This is being reported on other sites too, but here's the CNN link:

I love the fact that the openly gay Representative is the first one to bite back at some of the more extreme crap being spouted at the town hall meetings.

For democracy to function, an educated public is necessary. This idiotic woman shows how far we have gone down the long road to a dead end. Are we seeing the end of liberal democracy when people spout - and believe - this sort of nonsense?

You can agree or not agree that broad, quality, affordable health care should be a priority for any successful nation. But the lies, hysteria and shouting show nothing so much as the fact that hope is fading.

How about the people turning up with guns when Obama speaks? Two more yesterday, according to the Guardian, and someone yelling "death to Obama". Boy, that's the way to show your patriotism and your respect for law and order.

lol...Barney Frank is now the leader of this movement? What a joke. He is an articulate idiot. He speaks well and says nothing. He has done this for years. Speaking well, smothering people in his verbal skills, and says nothing. I met him, back when I was a young Democrat, at a private party in Palm Springs after he gave a speech to a group of gay guys. I tried to talk with him personally, and he wanted to, but he was all banter and fluff, and could not say anything substantial. He smothers you with non-sequiturs. That was when I started seriously thinking about being Republican. I chose to remain Independent, and I liked him personally. He was personally, one on one, a very engaging person. Charming as hell. But he says just enough to think he agrees with you, but he never commits to anything. He is a classic politician. He says what he needs to get re-elected. That is the most important thing to him. Get re-elected. He is not right or left, he is a guy that does not want to lose his job. He wants to keep his job and status. Is that a suprise to anyone?

There's already a long thread on this topic.

I wasn't responding to you. I just thought that the OP, who seems to be interested in what people have to say about the incident, might want to see what's already been said here since it's been discussed at some length. I simply thought the posts in the other thread might interest him (as well as others who might not be aware of it).

Fair enough. But then, why are you responding to me? What do I have to do with that?

My first post in this thread wasn't in response to you, and I'm a little mystified as to why you think it was. Just because my post came after yours doesn't mean I was responding to you. I only responded to what seemed to be your response to me.

I assume that most people are looking at the whole site and following all the responses and not just looking at one thread. Maybe I am wrong, and if so my bad. But I assume that anyone on here knows how to monitor all the responses and they follow not just this thread but most all of the threads. If I am wrong, my bad. I just figured guys are smart enough.

But anytime someone "quotes" me, like you did, I tend to think you are talking about me. Quotes do that.

But I didn't quote you in my first post in this thread. I only quoted you in later posts because in those posts you seemed to be responding directly to me so I responded directly back to you.

Did I misunderstand in those later posts? Was your post that said "So what? I responded to this thread." not in response to me?

I am not here to argue with you, brother.

Life is way too short. If I misunderstood you, then I apologize. Maybe I misread something, and if so, I am big enough to say I was wrong.

Great. I'm glad this is over.

As am I. No need fighting with gay brothers. We all want the same thing.

But some of us actually fought for Gay rights back in 1981. Some of us spent time in jail for it. Some of us actually fought back way back when. Some of us faced the cops and the consequences and fought back. I did. One of many.
