    hmmm.. well, it depends

if you are attempting to become something as a person, it means emotional growth and I don't believe that you can ever be something that you wish to become otherwise you will no longer become better and it is I believe, human nature to constantly move the goal posts forward so that you always have to work to reach the goals.

In other words to me, being symbolises stagnation and becoming symbolises growth and development..

or did I just totally read to much into that?

    Right now, I'm being.
But, I just applied for a job, so maybe I'm becoming and don't know it, yet.

I'd rather be (being) now, in the present then wait to become or becoming in the future.

jprichva said"To do is to be" -- Aristotle
"To be is to do" -- Descartes
"Do be do be do" -- Sinatra

    That's been around for decades.
I recall seeing it scrawled on the wall of a study carrel in my college library.

To the OP's question: life is a process of ever-unfolding becoming.

If you are truly "Being" in this moment of now, that's all there is. The true self wants not, needs not, does not, cares not....it just is. Becoming is like trying, you either are or you are not.....do or do not, there is no becoming or trying. The past and the future do not exist, they are illusions, all that is is all there is right here, right now. In that lies the field of all possibilities. You can choose to live outside yourself and be NO WHERE or always be your true self in the moment and NOW HERE! That is truly being, to choose to be the highest vision you've ever held about who you are in every moment of NOW!
