What to do in Fort Lauderdale?

  • Aug 21, 2009 8:06 AM GMT
I think I posted this in the wrong section so sorry for the double, but I'm visiting the FTL/Miami area Labor Day weekend. Anybody know of anything fun to do? Other than tan on the beach all day that is haha

Oh, and if you can recommend a good, reputable place to get a tattoo that would be great too

Red Vespa will respond and if you are really lucky he will take you for a ride (or two!) ;)

This first site has the most comprehensive list of things gay in the area. The second is the City of Fort Lauderdale's own official gay tourist info. Third is FunMaps for mapping gay places throughout the US, including FtL, Miami & Miami Beach. Tip: you will probably want Miami Beach, with its art deco scene and some gay life, not Miami, which are 2 different cities. Their visitor info is the last link here:

I love fort lauderdale! The beach, gay shopping, nightlife, it is great. you have to make sure you hit up http://www.livingroomnightclub.com/ it is only gay on Friday...I think, I went there last 2 months ago and wow, every other guy was young and hot, a tough crowd tho...I found Wilton Manors tended to be older, but was a lot of fun

Yes, Wilton Manors and its surrounding area are uber gay. But many places are gay bars & clubs, and I believe the OP is 19, so not sure he can get into many, including the Living Room.

I found Red Vespa's suggestions (the links) very helfpul for my trip earlier this year. I'm going back to Fort Lauderdale over Labor Day Weekend and can't wait. So much to do outdoors and in. Lots of great guys, too.

Glad things went well for you. Yeah, Mark's List is extremely good, and he works very hard at it, a real guy named Mark.

Any RJ member who comes to this area is always welcome to drop me an email, see if our schedules will let us meet. Over Labor Day I may be out on a boat, not sure yet, or doing about a dozen other possible things with friends. Maybe even something a visitor can attend as well. Never hurts to see if something can't happen.

If you like dancing and don't mind a dance floor crowded with hot sweaty men, the Sea Monster is the place to be on Sunday night. Things get going around 8:30 p.m. See you there!

If you're gay there are millions of things to do here in SoFla

I used to live i n FTL so I'm pretty familiar about what goes on up there
You have Wilton Manors which is gay central
    as Red Vespa already said
There are clubs and shops and restaurants all of them almost exclusively gay
There is even a gay gym if you wanna workout while you're here

If you're up for a ride down to Miami
There is a great gay beach 12th Ave Beach
with a gay club/hamburger joint right outside the entrance
There are gay drag shows out on the street there on Sunday afternoons
Scores on lincoln rd packs them in on weekend nights
and all the men are quite hot icon_cool.gif

So basically you can't go wrong when you take a vacation down here
Check out our local gay mag
It'll tell you what's up for the wkend

I just contacted the Sea Monster (we know the owner) to confirm that it is 21+ and do they card. I had to check because we're so past being carded that we never even pay attention to that sort of thing.

If the OP's profile is current with an age of 19, the Sea Monster is out.

Don't bother. I hear there are no gay people there.

You're correct, they're all in Winnipeg, Canada, with you. A place I've been many times since 1983. icon_razz.gif

LOL! Actually, I like Winnipeg very much, a lovely city. The museum there is a treasure, the Fort Garry site wonderful, the people themselves very friendly. And when I'd drive up from North Dakota, I was always amazed by all the great Chinese restaurants along the way, and in the city itself when I got there, and always wondered how that happened. But much of the dining is very good, and I recommend a visit to Winnipeg.

It's an okay city with friendly people for the most part. The north end is stuck in the 80's. I frequently see guys with mullets and rocker hair driving 25 year old chevy trucks. Not saying that is a bad thing it's just lots of them are ass holes.
