The LGBT community always calling for forgetting about labels and treating all the humans equally... right?

I say no.. the LGBT communit is the most fucking labeled communit in the whole world:

Gay , lesbian , bisexual , transgendered, transexual, MTF, FTM , goy, queer, femme , "straight" , even BEARS have their own fucking flag !!

Do we really need a flag just for our every dicks' (or pussys') preferrence ??

Yeah, like I said in my last post. Labels arent always a bad thing. Its a way of summing things up.

Think of labels like music genres. You have rock but rock is also punk, classic, alternative just like how if your gay you can be into twinks bears whatever.

Unless you just want to be undefined or not labled which is practically a label itself.icon_rolleyes.gif

I think it's because we've been collectively discouraged by society from expressing our true identities (especially earlier in our lives), so maybe we go a little overboard when we finally are courageous enough to express ourselves.

Homos just want to be ackowledged.

Kids today are so refreshing. Sociologists are having a tough time these days pegging the percentages of gays and lesbians in populations under 25 because such of such a large number of participants who cannot or will not define themselves. Their sexuality is "fluid", which makes me wonder how many of these "fluid" people are our parents and grandparents that never acted on their desires...

Everything around you has been labeled and categorized according to a certain pattern. I live in a piece of land someone labeled country which belongs to a greater territory which some others labeled continent. Im labeled as male, Im labeled as canadian citizen, Im labeled as animal, Im labeled as student, Im labeled as latin, Im labeled as gay.

Labels are just a way to organize and give structure to information. It seems like now that's the new cool 'I hate labels', and as I said thats fine, its none of my business cause anyway I do love my label, I love being gay cause what I do falls in that category, that doesnt make me unequal nor less human being, it just makes special and different, cause every single person out there is special and different thanks to this whole label shit.

Categorization is a part of our human nature. We seek to classify in order to understand. While it may seem hypocritical that the LBGT community promotes a label free world all the while including a lot of "labels" it is solely because our community must work inside a larger heteronormative community who actually dictates the labels that we adhere to and in LBGT groups' case, welcome.

What I meant is .. that our community claims that it want to cancel lables, it screams for equality and not putting people under categories. we see it everywhere.. while the truth is that it SCREAMS for attention and for labels for each and each small tiny group in it.

    Ditto.

I don't understand why some people so desperately need to be able to apply labels to everyone they know. It's as if figuring out who the person behind that label is just is too much trouble or not even worth there time. icon_confused.gif

I for one refuse to become just another label, g0y or otherwise.

Oh, we are trying to get rid of labels. I thought we were trying to win the respect and recognition our set of labels deserve.

I agree its just not important. I don't want my kids to have to come out to me or anything.

I just want them to come home one day with a guy or a girl and thats that. No need for labels. They're very limiting.

We all know what we like. Why give it word to try to explain it to the rest of world.

I'm love/hate with all the labels of our community. Yeah, it's kind of dumb to pin everyone down in one way or another, but at the same time, all those labels out there recognize the existence of the immense diversity that exists among humans the world over. It's also really cool to be able to locate others who share the labels I have or possess the labels I find attractive.icon_biggrin.gif

Well this whole GBLT thing is just one big label. To me it says. A bi is not gay, because they have their own label, a gay is not bi, a lesbian is not gay either, and a T has a label of their very won too.

I never come across so many labels until I walked into the gay community and we now have even more since then; twinks for one.

You can call me anything you won't. I'm still a pure homosexual, the only fag in the village; but don't call me late for dinner.

I don't like being labeled because most labels fit me like size 40 pants... terribly. but then again I have no problem labeling people as douchebags all the time.

I agree with M. Zombie "I thought we were trying to win the respect and recognition our set of labels deserve." If labels are inevitable, and I believe they are, then why not make the best out of them?

As for flags, that's a different story. A flag is an act of defiance, a declaration of intent, and a symbol of patria. As such I'll march behind any of the flags you listed, some more happily than others, but I finally see myself in the same pot as every one of those gender identities.

I agree with you Timberoo, but labels are placed upon us all the time..
For instance: As i'm walking on the sidewalk its obvious how white woman hold onto their bags[whether i'm in a suit or not], ...
    AND...........................
When i'm in harlem and someone hear's me speaking, i can always count on some asshole to call me bourgeois or a sellout, simply because i dont speak slang.......So you see people will always label you, REGARDLESS..
I'v been labeled for being Black..
I'v been labeled and called a Zebra..
I'v been told i'm too Black and not black enough...
The only thing you can do is love yourself and not allow what others think of you determain how you feel about yourself.......

I understand the need for labels and understand that some are just a given in our culture. Some are also self determined and we chose to broadcast that by assuming the trappings society recognizes. What I don't like is when people try to classify you at a glance.

    What noun isn't a label?
