OK, somebody better pick up the reins on health care; his replacement better not be a Blue Dog.

    From your mouth to . . . someone's ears.

But for the moment, I'm just feeling sad.

But the left supported Blue Dogs to win seats normally held by Republicans. Now, they are getting their ass bit by those same Blue Dogs who they put in place to win normally Republican seats. In seats that should have gone to Repubs, but in the last election Demos supported so that they could win those seats. You put them in place to win the last election. But now you have to deal with them. I LOVE IT. Deal with it.

Teddy Kennedy has been a waste of space from the day he killed Mary Jo Kepechne. A raging alcoholic that did nothing but take out his inner demons on the rest of us.

He was never a great politician. He lived off the glory of his two dead brothers who never really did anything themselves. Neither did a damn thing. Nor did they change anything.

The Kennedy's are a joke. They are so called American Royalty. What a joke. The dad was a bootllegger and made his fortune sneaking booze across the Canadian border with help from the Mafia of the time. Their whole fortune was made illegally. Joe Kennedy used that money to get JFK elected. After Joe Kennedy, Jr. died in the war who he really wanted to be the first Kennedy in office. But when Joe was shot down, he turned his attention to Jack.

And after Jack, Robert. And after Robert, they used the illegal money to get Teddy elected. The guy that was the drunk and drove off a bridge and killed Mary Joe.. And now, this longtime drunk, became the face of the Kennedy's.

    What a joke.

How very sad. I had the feeling that he wasn't long for the world after some of the commentary of the last week.

Kennedy was one of those democrats who worked tirelessly to improve
social programs and was one who stood up for the hate crimes bill after the Matthew Shepard beating. For my whole life, there was Kennedy, representing the left. There were times it seemed it was only Kennedy.
While I thought his efforts to challenge President Carter for re-election in 1980 was inappropriate, and you wondered a bit after hearing about his
marital problems with Joan and the drinking issues, he largely redeemed himself over the last 2.5 decades with his large body of work.

He will certainly be missed. He was more than just the youngest brother of JFK, he was an icon in his own right.

After that I think you really would want to tell us who your candidates for heroes of the US Senate are. Those Senators who have achieved more, and are more revered. If Kennedy is so low, it shouldn't be too hard to find plenty.

Your comments are really vile and disgusting. You are welcome to offer criticism about Kennedy or his family, but the way you phrase it shows
something much more in my view.... about you...

Ted Kennedy has been my senator for my entire life, and has an amazing career of achievement on landmark legislation that has affected every American for the better, and also working with people all across the political spectrum. The news reports I'm seeing are showing an outpouring from Republicans as well as Democrats, as he worked well with him.

Those that don't see this tradition of service are blind.

No, Ted may have been the one who redeemed the Kennedys, including himself. Was he flawless? Of course not. Some (including you) may have reason to believe he was a terrible, perhaps even evil man. But there are things about his life that we don't know, that we may never know.

What we do know is that he was instrumental in getting a great deal of legislation passed. You may not like that legislation and you may have hated him (and you may have what seem like great reasons to hate him personally), but a waste of space he was not.

Thanks for saying that, Chris. Notice how personal these comments get from the fringe right.

The silver lining might be that the more it becomes known that healthcare was Ted Kennedy's passion before he died
The more likely the democrats who were sitting on the fence will favor the new bill
The republicans are a lost cause ... and trying to get them on board is and will be a complete waste of time
