Don't watch than. Turn you TV off and don't read anything. You Republicans hate to read about good people as there are none in your party!

    ME!
But it's partly because I hate the way this sort of news is covered; I felt the same about Michael Jackson and all the other famous people who died this summer. It's all about creating a media frenzy to boost flagging summer ratings...
AND I feel Ted left a very mixed legacy -- Chappaquidick, anyone?
This morning I heard Katie Couric refer to MaryAnn Kopechne as his "companion in the car" like she was just a passenger and not his mistress! jeez. with coverage like that of course I'm sick of it. icon_evil.gif

Um, really? This man has his fingerprints all over most of the major legislation of the last half century, all the way back to the civil rights movement. Kennedy wasn't just anybody, in case you haven't been paying attention. Perhaps you think the death of Ronald Reagan received inadequate coverage?

I think CNN has done a great job of objective reporting on health care here and abroad, and have done a good job of keeping the fluff down and presenting some great information about other countries. Regular countries have had universal health care for DECADES.

There's still the Micheal Jackson fluff.

There's still the GOP smear tactics, and the misinformation campaign of the GOP and United Health Care, but, CNN has done a great jobs of exposing those campaigns as scare tactics that prey on weak-minded Southerners.

The Kennedys dedicated their lives to the service of their country.

That generation of Kennedys gave us a President, Attorney General (and presidential candidate), a nine term Senator (and presidential candidate) and a sister who started the Special Olympics. Pretty compelling stuff. No wonder the news is obsessed. It's better than fiction.

None of them perfect. Some people hate their politics. Some with questionable morality. It's better than fiction.

Well, we could take a lesson from Walmart and Canada, and Western Europe, and go with single payer, but, there are so many rich folks that don't want universal health care.

Putting things in perspective...TURP funds could have funded universal health care for quite some time, and TURP has mostly bank, I mean, back fired. Banks are greedier than ever.

A wellness program makes sense, but, there's just so much money in treating sick folks in the current system. Clearly, if we were to keep the fat ass count down, and emphasize wellness, we'd SAVE money, but, it's not going to go that way.

I'm afraid what we're gonna' end up with is another Medicare Plan D, which basically is an open checkbook to Big Pharm.

The insurance interests will make sure that the public plan / public option can't compete. BY LAW, that's the way the public option is here in Texas (The Texas Risk Pool, it's called.) The public plan has to be HIGHER than 78% (something like that) of the private insurers...it's not allowed to compete. We certainly don't need more of the same, but, on the insurance front, I imagine that's what we end up with. The Big Pharm, and Big Med, and Big Insurance, have spent many, many, millions, protecting their cash cows.

The media does this anytime a famous person dies. It goes overboard. Pay respect with a tribute, and move on.

The Jackson coverage all summer is beyond ridiculous. Now, the brothers are getting a "reality" show. Gag me with a fried twinkie.

That wouldn't be the fault of the Clunkers program. That would be the fault of the dealership and the buyer. The Clunkers program has nothing to do with financing. End of that spin!

...for 450,000 people/households? not even the slightest. And that presumes that all will default!!! Oh contraire back to you...

And the reason that made most people default on home mortgages were the adjustable rates. Cars don't offer adjustable rates. They're fixed!!
