Travel advisory: Congo

This is just a travel advisory against visiting the "Democratic" Republic of Congo, due to their interesting court system.

Currently, there are two Norwegian citizens on trial for murder in Congo. They're probably guilty (a picture of one them cleaning the blood from the murder scene while smiling is fairly damning), but the trial itself has taken on absurdity of near-epic proportions.

The prosecutor has determined that the two guys must be Norwegian spies sent to foment unrest and instability in the DRC. His reasoning for this is that the two guys once served in the Norwegian military and therefore must still be in the employ of Norway / the Norwegian military. He also has a picture of a Norwegian (domestic local) press photographer wearing a British military beret pointing at Central Africa, who he claims is their covert leader. Thus, he has added a civil lawsuit against Norway to the case, demanding $541 billion (as in $541 000 000 000) in compensation.

Updates to follow as they come.

You gotta wonder wtf a couple of Norwegian ex-military guys are doing committing murder in the Congo. It doesn't exactly sound like a domestic dispute that got out of hand and turned into a crime of passion. They are probably mercenaries.

Yes, they are apparently private military contractors. However, the man they killed was their taxi driver.
