    here's the account of my bf, a RN and EMT (paramedic) who stayed and served the city of new orleans during hurricane katrina's visit to the city of new orleans and the aftermath when the faulty federally built & maintained levies failed, flooding much of the city.

    it's a long read, but well worth the time spent, IMO.

    it's an intensely moving, harrowing and deeply personal account of being on the inner ring of dante's inferno that the city of new orleans became 4 years ago..

    It's an absolute shame and an embarrassment that we never really came to terms with

    How a government can fail so badly ... short of lining people up and shooting them
    and still survive is beyond me
