I stopped playing volleyball when I was 14 and I was really good. I just got back into it last September and have improved tremendously over the past year playing indoor, grass and beach volleyball. Who else plays? What position do you play? What leagues? and how much do you love the sport??

I play power but can play all positions if needed, although, I'm not the tallest person on the court. I think my vertical is decent especially since I've lost about 20 lbs this summer. Any tips on getting better? LET ME KNOW!!!

There's quite an active league here in Boston. We usually send a good number of teams to the NAGVA competitions. In fact, we're holding our a NAGVA competition here in a few weeks:

    Boston Beantown Classic
    Sept 12-13

Maybe see some of volleyball RJs there???

Lol I'm from Vancouver on the west coast. I won't be heading down there. I have a course I'll be taking that weekend as well. But good luck! What level you play at?

I have played in Vancouver's NAGVA tournaments several times.
They have a good organization,,, I know two of the people running it, Fred Lee and Kevin Wong.

I have been playing in NAGVA events for over 11 years and have run several as well.

I play Middle in B and outside in BB.
Playing 4 nights/week in our club and Sundays at another location and the beach occasionally should be an indication of how much I enjoy it, icon_smile.gif

Treader, I have played in the Beatown classic several times as well.... Boston is my home town and I will be there the weekend of your tournament for my High School Reunion.

Guys, although I often form teams for our local tournaments (playing in Anaheim Sept 5 & 6) I also love to travel and will be happy to play on other's
teams.... I am 6' 2" well experienced Middle but can also play outside.
Now I am rated B but was BB for several years.

My Team is looking for an Outside hitter/blocker for the Anaheim tournament... anyone want to play ? (must be B rated)

I play recreationally; weekly pickup games when I have the time, and intramurals in the fall. What position I play depends a lot on my teammates; in most cases we pretty much all play whatever position we've rotated into, but in other circumstances I'll spend more of my time in the front court blocking and digging anything I can get to in the back court. What's sad is that on one team I've played with I've basically become the primary setter, as I'm the only one on that team who has played enough to reliably set the ball without committing a double touch.

I just played in the Anaheim NAGVA tournament Sept 5 & 6, 2009.

Our team, LA crush won the GOLD! It was a tough battle as we lost the 1st winner's bracket match and had to fight our way up the ladder to then win,
We had several new, inexperienced players but we came together and did it !

I am so proud of our team!

Vegas is next! over Halloween weekend

Looking forward to trying to get into a few tournaments this year as well. Have yet to get rated and trying to find some more information on how all of that works. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

I play in Chicago - BB/A setter - but evolving to a more all around player - I used to have more chances to be an all around player when just playing pick up games at the local Y - 3-4 man play.

You pick up your skills rather quickly if you play with experienced players that way ..... if you want to increase jump/vertical - best way is Plyometric Exercises.

L.A. Crush wins another Medal! Bronze in the Las Vegas "Spooky Spikes"
    NAGVA Tournament. LOVE NAGVA tournaments.

Even with two us very sick with severe colds, losing our star player and our other Middle hitter when he was rated out of our Division, we managed to bring it on Sunday and win the Bronze!
I am so proud of our team!

And to the hater who called me "elderly" in another thread,
I wonder if you could do this now at 36 let alone when you become "elderly"
