I went grocery shopping today and it struck me how different my refrigerator and pantry looks today than it did just a few years ago.

If you look in my kitchen today you see avocados, bananas, spinach, filets of tuna and salmon, chicken breasts, pork loin, beans, juice, oatmeal, yogurt, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, olive oil, fresh fruit, and sweet potatoes.

In the past, you'd see lots of pasta, butter, canned tuna, instant rice, spaghetti sauce in a jar, sugared cereal, and canned soup.

Can't say it's a change due entirely to Real Jock, but the positive influence has certainly helped. Thanks RJ (and RJers!).

What did your kitchen look like, then and now?

ha. I used to down Wendy's classic triple sandwiches, entire pizzas, and the like ...

now, I choose to not consume like that: various spices, green greens (alluding to Kirby, yes), lean beef, wheat anything, oats, flax seed, echinacea, taurine, multivitamin, grilled white meat, etc.

I was and am still considered on the leaner (almost anorexic-looking) end of the spectrum; however, I felt the change in dietary habits were necessary.

Mmm, Videogame pun (Spotted it right awayicon_razz.gif)

Actually, my kitchen now looks almost identical to what it used to look like, 'cause I'm a food wanker. I have a ton of fresh veggies, all manner of lentils, pulses, spices, grains, almost nothing tinned (Except beans).

I've got TVP, dried shittake and porcini mushrooms, and Japonica / Arboria / Wild / Brown Medium Grain / Jasmine / Basmati rice.

Tinned tomato, sugo, passata, cheeses, pickled onions, gerkins, American, Dijon and Wholegrain mustard, 10 differnt types of pasta, pomegranate mollasus, Red Wine, White Wine, Balsamic and Sherry vinegar. Olive oil, canola oil, copha.

Baking goods, icing goods, fucktons (Metric) of alcohol.

On an every day basis, I really only eat meat, veggies, and a couple of serves of carbohydrates. BUT, I can whip up awesome meals at short notice, and I'm prepared for extended periods of not being able to afford foodicon_razz.gif

The new things in my kitchen? Protein Powder and Creatine.

Wait, what's the deal with this screen name? There used to be another member on here with the name 'getfitrick' and I saw his profile not but a couple of weeks ago.

Lets see: haven't eaten butter in 6 months, no fast food in close to a year. nearly no deserts in 6 months - dont miss any of it. Cut down on alcohol incredibly so Im a really cheap date now icon_smile.gif

in fact had half a martini the other nite and I was almost passed out.... not like the old days at all icon_smile.gif

Almost 100% organic veggies bought, 100% organic milk and meats - mostly chicken and turkey - lots of fresh fish (salmon, halibut, swordfish, tillapia, red snapper) from the market.

Whole wheat pasta ( a little), whole wheat breads, any baking is done with whole wheat flour and its usually to make a low cal muffin. No sugar at all. Guests get "Sugar in the Raw" - whole wheat couscous, Quinoa.

Organic non greek fat yogurt, 1% milk fat organic cottage cheese, non fat cream cheese, non fat sour creeam (all for the rare times I use it).

Sweet potatoes, broccoli rabe, broccoli, butternut squash (for soup), Assorted peppers, romaine, arugula, endive, mushrooms, portobellos, celery, zucchini, asparagus, spinach, string beans, tomatoes - all fresh fruit - heavy on the berries, - drink almost only water or selzter with lemon/lime.

olive oil is primary oil used and in small amounts.

I have food in my fridge. Probably the same food from a few years ago...I really should throw it away.
