You look at the thousands of profiles here, they all want to be muscular and they all want muscle men (look at their hotlists).

Now the real quistion is : is it a coinsidence that all the gay men here like muscle guys, or are they here because they like muscle guys?!

Personally I love working out, I want to become bigger. But I don't feel attraction to big muscle men (or at least don't wanna have sex with them) . I have a cute skinny BF and I love him and crazy about his body..(there are lots of men who like skinny twinks, I met some personally, but we almost don't see twinks on hotlists here..)

    Discuss..

When I was younger, I liked younger men - thin, trim, fit, or with bigger muscles. In my mid-40s I still like men in my own age range, better built or fit - height/weight proportionate. Too skinny or too chunky doesn't turn me on. Everyone has different reasons for being here (or maybe similar reasons) and everyone has a different type of man that turns them on. Although I like the motivational eye candy on this site, I stay for the workout advice. And the forums can be fun too...

I'm here to read "the articles".

It's the truth, actually...though I won't deny that I also partake in checking out the hot folk who frequent RJ every now and then (some of which are skinny, some of which are muscular...).

In reply to the OP - uber-muscularity isn't all that important to me, both in terms of who I'm attracted to and what I'm striving towards in my own work out goals.

Outside of the forums I like the fitness and sport vibe/info of the site, it's really good in that way, better than any other site I've found and how it does it geared towards guys and how it does it in a sense toward guys that happen to be gay instead of like a gay site that happens to have fitness info.

is it a coinsidence that all the gay men here like muscle guys, or are they here because they like muscle guys?!

I think it's both but the site does have a fitness focus so I would think that members would be more fit or at least working towards that goal, which tends to make guys look that way.

I've never thought of the majority of people here being big muscles though. Seems more muscular to lean body or generally athletic/fit types.

    I don't like muscle men.

I prefer fit or average bodies (low fat). Sportsmen bodies.

*Muscle men turn me off* I'd rather fuck a pretty girl instead. Seriously.

Ghostic: you're in the right shape. You don't need to get bigger than that, really.

Originally for motivation. I work out alone early in the morning. No one at the gym cares if I don't show up, so being here helps me to push myself not to skip a workout.

However, there is a community that goes beyond the exercise, and that keeps me coming back.

As for the look of guys on this site: eye-candy is eye-candy. It's not the same as finding someone in the real world. Maybe looking at the mutual buddy list would tell you more about what people really want.

Good question. I like fitness minded guys, not specifically muscle guys. I think most guys on here are a "cut above" in terms of who you would meet in a bar or other gay venues. "cut above" would mean not a heavy drinker, smoker, no recreational drugs, maybe have a few goals in life.

For us it's all about personalities - Like Timberoo's, Atari84's, Anto's, GHoSTic's , gosh, everyone posting here, and a pile of others.

Apologies for sounding trite, but all the buff body pics look like so many rows of canned goods in their sameness, lol!

It's the dialogue, the interests, the struggles, successes, failures, cries for help, posts and topics to answer those cries, humour and debate that drew us and keeps us here.

I prefer slim or defined men who are taller than me (check my hotlist) but with a wide age range.
But the best I get from RealJock is reading the forum posts and adding my contributions.
I believe that I'm known for throwing in "stingers" into the forum from time to time to stir debate. I have found that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But with responses, I have developed a greater respect for respondants like Sedative and even McGay and Guerrilla for their time and effort to answer, regardless on how much they may disagree.
But for the likes of FierceEyes, for example, his death-like silence has caused me to wonder whether he has a superiority complex, due to holding a title as doctor, in other words, stuck-up. This is a crying shame, since it is my opinion that he is one of the best looking and most facially handsome member on this website. Being on his buddy list would have been a highly regarded privilage.

I like R.J. for a number of reasons. I've been an athlete all my life - and have tried to take good care of myself. I get some good, updated information on health and nutrition, plus I've broadened my frame of reference politically and in other matters. I've learned a great deal from guys from varied backgrounds and have come to appreciate their experiences and viewpoints & have made a number of friends I hope to know for life. R.J. to me is like an extended family of brothers. Most important for me though - was the unplanned (but amazing) fact that I met my awesome b.f. right here in Forums.

I'm here to find true love icon_rolleyes.gif

Enjoy reading the threads - they can be very entertaining. It's more than pure entertainment though - I've found it very useful to hear other guys perspectives on a wide variety of topics as they relate to my own life situations. And of course, I also like looking at all the pretty pictures.

I'm at a point in my life where I decided to delete all my "hook-up" sites profiles - manhunt, gay.com, a4a etc. - so this is a good alternative site for me to stay connected to a gay community online and it not be all about just hooking up.

In friendship and dating - I generally surround myself with like minded individuals who are into fitness, sports and taking care of themselves - so the guys on RJ fit in very nicely.

Well, there aren't too many people from my country in here, so it's pointless to look for dates or anything. I just like being part of some sort of a gay community and I think this one is quite nice icon_smile.gif Well, maybe a little shallow, but aren't we all like that?? icon_smile.gif

I used to be here looking for affirmation from guys who were like me, or at least like me as far as I could tell. But, as it turns out, I ended up getting that affirmation from somewhere else. Now I'm just here to read the few interesting articles that pop up every once in a while and to talk to the few buddies that I have on here.

I'm here because it's probably the coolest gay site on the internet. I like that they don't allow disgusting public pics like other sites like Manhunt or Adam4Adam, and the forums and workout and nutrition information definitely put RJ on a level above the rest.

And please add meninlove to that list please. icon_wink.gif
I've actually had some really great feedback on relationship issues from the forums. It's refreshing to have opinions from people who don't feel compelled to tell me what I want to hear or be adversarial for the sake of being adversarial.

Coincidentally, I met what seems to be a really interesting guy via RJ someone I probably wouldn't have had a dialogue with otherwise.

I don't think all guys on here are into muscle guys. I'm certainly not a muscle guy and I have no desire to be. But I appreciate that others on here are as conscientious of their bodies as I am.

I'm here because I obviouslly want to get into much better shape. I want to be more healthier, stronger and of course better looking physically. Personally I think this site is excellent because I've been looking for something like Men's Health but that doesn't include articles like, "How to make your woman have a bigger orgasm." So it's great to find something like it but geared towards gay men!

What I like about this site is that it's a smidge less of a hook-up site, more of a social networking thing. I like the high percentage of muscular men here--which is actually a rare thing to see in a population (clubs, the beach, a restaurant). They don't appear to be clones to me at all.

I started at this site and continue to use it for the reason that it was intended. I wanted to find out about fitness, sports, and health from a gay oriented site. The fact that there are a lot of hot men here isn't coincidental. They are that way because they are also interested in those basic topics. I was never here to hookup or anything of the sort. There are far better ways of doing that, and besides, there are many men here with really great intellects, a diversity of knowledge and cultures and a great community sounding board for ideas and discussions. For that, this place is unsurpassed.

I'm not here to leer since pron is so readily and prolifically available elsewhere. I've made some really good friends here and met some awesome guys. If I ask for an opinion or some advice, I'm going to get plenty. I think I'm smart enough to figure out who's open minded and smart and who's an idealogue. I know when to not waste my time in a flame war between parties with closed minded absolutes as their pulpits.

On a final note, I quote:

I don't usually like the look of muscle men unless they combine their weight training with stretching and other forms of exercise that promote flexibility, balance and fluid motions.

In fact, that bulked up, ballooned up and stiff look is a total turnoff. I like guys with well developed balanced physiques (remember calves?) who don't look like they spend their lives in a gym. Also, guys who get their muscles and definition from activities outside of the gym, like sports, work and hobbies seem much more comfortable with the way they move and carry themselves.

There's a certain way of walking that a lot of overly muscled guys do.......that waddle walk like a penguin. They seem like they are mentally measuring every step they take, their arms are tense, and generally are too self conscious about wind knocking them over.

It takes a lot of dedication and focus to have that bodybuilder heavy lifter body, so congrats to those who have attained what they want. I just prefer a guy with a physical appearance that suggests he has focus in his life not only for bodybuilding, but also other things in life that bring happiness and security.

No offense to the mega weight lifters....just my preference.

But in answer to the OP's question. I'm here to discuss topics that relate to me and other gay men, exchange fitness and nutrition ideas, and to hear from guys around the country/world without heavy emphasis on sex and hooking up.

    I like this site for:

    1. Its excellent articles on fitness and nutrition, which I use.

    2. Research for my PhD and related topics that are personal.

    3. I feel comfortable here as, to be honest, people cannot ask to meet me and I do not get sex offers. Most of the people here are on another continent. icon_biggrin.gif

    4. On that note, I like watching other cultures. It is eye opening.

Used to be quite skinny when I joined here, and so got a lot of good tips and discussion about getting bigger. Also my hotlist is of men who I would like to be. That keeps me motivated to work hard in gym and eat right.
