You will be able to do way more with the nokia than the LG. The nokia has a regular size headphone jack, the Lg doesn't. I guess it all comes down to whether you need a smart phone that can run third party apps like I'M software and Skype or do you want a phone that can take decent pictures. The nokia has come down in price recently but the LG is similarly priced.

Honestly, the nokia is just a better deal if priced equally. Higher resolution screen, better OS, more listening options, wide array of applications, 3G that works with at&t in the US. More talk time wihtout battery recharge. Good luck, let us know which you choose!

If your main interest is mobile music and entertainment, get the Nokia. I read some reviews and saw some screenshots, the menus and user interface are quite impressive. But I do like the size and form factor of the LG.

If the camera feature is really important to you, then you should take a look at some the Sony Ericsson Cybershot phones. The picture quality is quite impressive on the C905.

I would get the Nokia. I have done some some crazy shit to my old Nokias, including dropping it in the toilet, and dropping it from a 4 story apt balcony. The thing was indestructible. LG, from my experience, had slower operating systems and much were more fragile.

I have the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Phone. I bought it unlocked online and have service with AT&T. The phone itself is awesome; from web-browsing to watching movies, listening to music, messaging to picture-taking. The phone is just packed with great, high-quality and effective features. Syncing media from my PC to the Nokia is seemless! If you have any questions about the phone let me know

edit: also, I forgot to mention the battery which is excellent on the nokia, even when browsing online. I don't use many apps, but many are available on Nokia's Ovi App Store.

And lastly the Nokia is NOT an iphone wannabe. Do your research first

LG GT505 and Nokia XpressMusic 8500 are basically an "answer" to the iphone, and yes, the interface is just an iphone copy with 2 more buttons and a slide keyboard. The design of the Iphone was totally innovative. If you know of any cellphone supporting a 3.5-inch widescreen Multi-Touch display before the iphone appeared then please post it here...

*whispers to JakeMathews*: don't mind Charlitos, he's just mad he paid $200 dollars and signed a two year contract for a smart phone that can't multitask. LOL

Okay I'm instigating. I don't think the OP is interested in an Iphone ...

actually tomorrow ill be paying other $299 for the new 3GS 36GB cause btw the Nokia XpressMusic 8500 only supports 16GB(SD Card) and also it has a RAM memory of 128MB compared to the iphone 3GS which is holding 256MB, also the Iphone processor is faster than the Nokia...sigh. True, the Iphone doesnt support to open more than one application at the time, but thats why there's push notifications, and the fact that it has a very reduced multitasking support also translates into better performance. You gotta be blind to not notice that the Iphone 3GS is the best phone out there...

Really? Multitask huh? Call me on skype and give me turn by turn directions using google maps so I can come to your place so you can show me. ;)
    The nokia can do this.

Charlitos, the nokia is limited to 16gb because there are no 32gb cards out.... yet. But he can spend 50 and get another 16gb and just swap it out.

The iphone is a great phone no doubt but it isn't the only viable option. The phone he gets will be unlocked and he can travel to croatia with it and just pop out the sim card and avoid paying crazy roaming charges. An unlock 3G is expensive. So even if it is superior... there are important cost factors like being stuck on one provider for two years and having to sign up for a 3G data plan that should be considered.
