Favorite all time movies! I don't really have one to be honest..I have a lot that I've watched repeatedly, for instance, Breakfast Club or V for Vendetta, or the heart wrenching Milk. icon_cry.gif But I can't pick one for the winner. What do you guys love?

Barley, having read your profile, you might enjoy some of the older films listed in this thread in addition to the all the other more recent ones.

another approach is to look up a director and see the films he or she made, hitchcock, wilder, hawks, ford, just to name a few. there are some real treasures in some of the older films.

i'd like to add a couple of mel brooks movies:

    blazing saddles

    young frankenstein

Well, a few on my list may not be fun movies for a Friday night. You may want to save Ordet, Rashomon, The Serpent's Egg, Umberto D, and The Earrings of Madame De . . . for when you're in a more serious or arty mood. For one thing, all of those (except The Serpent's Egg) are not in Engilsh. Smiles of a Summer Night and Tito and Me are also not in English, but they're comedies. Some of the others are kind of serious, but at least they're in English. ;)

But there are actually are a few fun movies that are also in English on my list.

Always makes sense, of course, to read just a bit about the movie first and decide if it might be something you want to see that night.

Anyway, there have been some earlier threads here on the subject of favorite movies, which may be why you haven't gotten that many responses:
