There must be some kind of gay center (a building or office) where you can go to ask questions about where to meet other gay men. Or do a little Googling.

I joined the gay softball league when I first moved to Houston and met SOOOO many people, very quickly. It was one of the best decisions I could have made as a newbie. There are also sorts of recreational groups that are out there catering to the gay community. Google can most definitely help you find some.

    EAT!

My god, I remember getting into San Francisco a few years ago, and after checking into my hotel, I tried looking for a place to eat. I walked ALL over for thirty minutes before I food a restaurant.

I stayed at the Hotel Bijou, and I am guessing it was like Sunday around 6pm.

I go to the highest point in the city commit the general topography of the city to memory and get my general bearings.

Then I jump on public transportation, go to the center of town, get drunk and explore the city as I try to find my way home.

I do this when I travel too... it's fun for me and I always make lots of friends along the way.

Eat or sleep - I rarely travel locally and find myself crossing multiple timezones. Next (if you want to ignore the first thing) I typically get settled, get my bearings and go for a walk to familiarise myself. icon_smile.gif

Get my bearings, walk around and familiarize myself with the place, stopping at interesting looking places along the way to eat.
