LOL when I first read the title of this for a split second I thought it was somethign racist hahahahaha.

Make sure you are on some kind of mild mind-altering substance, like Red Bull, some alcohol, etc. Otherwise the event, the music, and the extremely boring and predictable "Circuit Generation" will make you want to kill yourself. Other than that as long as you go in excited and with a little chemical boost (I am only speaking on behalf of legal substances) then you should have fun.

Jake, that is hilarious. If you want to go, go man. I just see it as an Abercrombie and Fitch party with vacant eyes and no personality dancing to megamixes.

I couldn't see myself wearing all white ... but, I'm sure I could do much worse. Nah, I'm sure white parties are a lot of fun - given that they're not too pretentious. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. have them all the time.

It's a party that mainly represents trendy (and their commitment to being trendy) gay men's purity.

They are relentless parties which are held in big clubs where the music seems monotonous unless you have taken shit loads of drugs. In London, the gay scene has big problems with a drug called GBH which, if taken with alcohol leads the user to collapse in a twitching coma. It's a great look.

Muscle marys love the stuff and the clubs have to employ trained medics to deal with the casualties.

Strange how none of the circuit generation seems to be defending their parties against everyone's accurate tirades.

Because the "circuit generation" grew up and moved on. You can only do those parties for so long before they lose their luster. From what I have heard, at least for The White Party in Palm Springs in the Spring around Easter, is that attendance is way down from the hey-day of circuit parties around 1999/2000 and they just aren't what they use to be.

The White Party here in Miami
is held at the Vizcaya Mansion

Which is this gigantic Italianate Mansion from the early 1900's on Biscayne Bay
    It's a spectacular place
The Party itself is more a show than a circuit party
There are other circuit events after the Party itself
But it's just a few hours
and you get to see all the gigantic costumes
and the celebrities that come down to host it

The events around the circuit party are great fun, I rarely go to them anymore. There are really hot men, but there are assholes and douche bags too... galore.
But if you go with friends it can be big fun, pools, parties, cocktails, dinners out, seeing somewhere new... it can be fun.

I usually go with one or two "good friends" and our goal is to spend time with each other. We spend a few hours at each event (kickoff party, ancillary parties sponsored by different vendors). Then usually find a pool to lay next to and read, curl up in a shady spot chat, have a cocktail and nap, go for a run or order a movie and get room service!

I'm not a big fan of the dancing and getting high anymore but it's fun to see so many happy people having fun. I don't do late nights anymore, I'm a big morning fan.

The outfits and personalities are fun for people watching, I hope you have a great time. These days I like the quiet and cuddling with someone I adore in a shady spot on a warm beach.

I am a BIG fan of dancing. But I've gotten so turned OFF by these circuit parties.

First off, many of the guys there are muscles queens....no other way to describe it. They got the tats, face hair, abs etc. but they are so damn uptight and act like assholes. And most are very high on drugs and most aren't really dancing, but rather just shuffling from side to side ( I call it the dinasaur dance) thinking they are dancing.

Often the music tends to be a mix of highly techno and screaming diva stuff that heightens the drug's affect and effectively brings out the "mary" and drama dancing in all the robotic muscle queens prancing around.

Its hard for me to find a space on the dancefloor where I feel comfortable finding fellow REAL dancers.

If I were to go to one of these again, it would have to be when I know a particular DJ is playing and I would go knowing what to expect, go with friends and make my own party despite the jerks around me. You really do have to work hard to find your nich...your groove....but if the music is right and you are dancing near other great dancers, the vibe is incredible.

Sorry for the rant. The last time I went to one of these I was happily doing my thing on the dancefloor trying to disregard the idiots and was constantly interrupted by zoned out creeps crashing into me, gawking, dancing too close to me in a stupid suggestive way and asking me if I wanted to go upstairs and have sex. Not my scene.

There are big dance parties in NYC (and elsewhere) called ALEGRIA. These raves attract the same type of guys but I discovered a little secret. These parties usually start the night before and end in the afternoon the next day. My tactic is to get a good night's sleep. Wake up at 5 or 6am, and arrive at the party at about 7am. At that time, the crowd has thinned, there's more room to dance, the sex addicts have found their guy, and the music changes from an earlier frenetic druggie sound to a more danceable fun sound.

They have a party in Europe every year called Sensation where the participants are required to do just that.

jprichva said...The White Party was first started by The Saint nightclub in New York during the 80s. It was the counterpart to the Black Party, which was a day-and-night long fetish extravaganza.

Some believe the earlier inspiration for the gay White Party was Truman Capote's famous Black and White Party in New York in 1966, where the idea of masks was introduced, a feature many White Parties still retain, at least for the main ball.

One problem I have always had with these parties, is that at the very bottom
of the ad, it mentions that a proceeds will be donated to local AIDS charities.
The problem is that it takes a high powered microscope to fine how much the donation is. Jeffrey Sanker, who now puts on the event as well as the one in PS, is a notorious penny pincher and has given next to nothing to PS charities.

The sad fact is that there are unscrupulous promoters out there who play with the money they donate because there isn't any lower limit they can give

and these guys put out venues that compete with the more legit parties

Oh I wouldn't trust Jeffry Sanker or any circuit party donating anything more than a nano-penny unless it shows a percentage of the profits on the flyer. It'd be better if they were just honest and said at the bottom of the flyer, "This is going to help pay for the talent, the go-go dancers, the various employees, my new condo, my drug habits, and hookers." I would be much more inclined to attend with that kind of honesty than this bullshit, "We're donating to AIDS (just kidding)." They might as well say "We're GOING GREEN" since they probably have no fucking clue what that means either, but it sounds good because every other retard is saying it.

God, if I hear another line of sanctimoneous, inane crap about the evil circuit party I swear I'm going to puke. Everyone knows what goes on at the parties and everyone knows the charity aspect is a load of shite. Enough with the circle of judgement by those who choose to stay on the outside. What makes more sense is to stick with the advice that actually makes sense than listen to the droning, unoriginal gallons hater-ade that continues to spill out of people's mouths.

So, the good advice is....go with a good attitude and, if possible, some friends. Stimulants, whatever you choose, are also great and enhance the experience if done safely. Could be the best party of your life. I know I've had fantastic times partying with great friends...probably with someone on the sidelines judging us all as "muscle marys". You know, I didn't even notice those people and never will.
