Which College Teams will you follow this season?
Sep 03, 2009 11:34 PM GMT
Ok guys enough forums about health care and environmental disasters, lets talk College Football!!

I am a UGA Alum so obviously following the Bulldogs. We still have some great talent after losing Stafford and Knowshon. The SEC East is tough again this year. FL still has Tebow and our opening game is against Ok State.

I follow GA, all other SEC teams, Texas, and FSU.

How do you not love Florida? I don't watch very many sports, but the following are teams that keep it more often interesting than not:

- Florida (duh)
- USC
- Weslyan Crew
- UNC Crew
- Oregon (they're the Ducks ... nostalgia anyone?)
- Bates Crew
- Williams Crew (they're the Purple Cows ... respek) etc.

Great first half for Boise State against the ducks. 0 first downs for the ducks...

Boise State really should be in a BCS conference. The Big East should probably just invite them and Utah, TCU and BYU to join to legitimize their automatic spot in the Orange Bowl.

That said, I'm following the above four teams, the Big Ten, the Pac-10, Big 12 and ACC in general. As for the SEC, I'm just waiting for the Gator's matter-of-course, as-good-as-won national championship to slip away by their own failings, despite having God's favorite son himself as the star quarterback. (Seriously, what hasn't Tim Tebow done or isn't capable of?) Meanwhile, the Irish will likely implode under Weiss and struggle again.

Of course, I have to indulge my biases and hope (emphasis on "hope") that the Buckeyes lose their final regular season game. Nothing personal.

A depressing (yet true) point. Terp for life, though!

Maryland will always be my first team, but the USC football fans on campus are such a force, it's hard for me not to get sucked in a little...

WHAT?!? We're the same person! Too bad we're looking at another year of mediocrity from one team and dismal chokage from the other. I'm still gonna watch all the gut wrenching disappointment.

I also have to add Michigan, since I grew up on it.

Enjoy your year Florida, because it's over after this year......you better pray Tebow stays healthy. Something tells me though, that his ego will put him on the sidelines. You can't always play Quarterback/Halfback and expect not to get the snot knocked out of you.........eventually.

I live in Nebraska. There is only one logical conclusion... ;)

I'm excited for our 300th consecutive sell out of memorial stadium, even if VT stole our win last week.

Funny anecdote... walking to work today infront of the stadium I saw Suh walking along lip synching and dancing.

timgoblue> Oklahoma State Cowboys.

They should be known as OSC to distinguish them from that dump in Columbus.... (:

Sep 25, 2009 6:32 AM GMT

4th week of college football, 4th straight top 5 upset. Alas, it is Ole Miss and not Florida or Texas. Perhaps the Gamecocks will continue its spoiler role of top 5 teams when the Tebowners visit Columbia in November, when a loss at that time would probably drop them out of the national championship hunt, particularly if the Tide kicks their asses in the SEC championship game.

timgoblue saidMichigan! Go Blue! Hail to the Victors!

I am cautious. While it's great to be ranked, I like to see us stay where we are just so we don't get overconfident. Indiana is not necessarily a pushover, and there are still high potential trap games at Michigan State and at Iowa to come. If we win all of the above, then perhaps we can think about challenging Penn State for the Big 10 championship, if we can score more tricky road wins at Illinois and Wisconsin (As you can see, I am not even bothering with that other school. I'm assuming Penn State will hand them their asses.)

Also, the Big Ten really needs to step up and stop getting beaten by pansies. It does not help that even Iowa is unranked. It's only the 4th week and most of the Big Ten's mid-level schools have been surprised. There's only so much blame that can be laid upon Tressel (and really, there's already a lot).
