Proposed Harvey Milk Day creates quite a stir

Conservatives are pushing hard for Schwarzenegger to veto Leno's legislation, which would proclaim Milk's May 22 birthday a day of recognition and encourage schools to consider commemorating his life.

I work in government and this sentiment is both understandable and amusing. It is sort of like a mechanic telling you your old junker needs its carburetor, transmission, and engine repaired. You respond by telling him to not bother with those and just fix the whole thing...

Milk day isn't a fixed car, but it is that much closer.

I think there should be a separate committee that meanders about what significance historical or current events have on America and how they should react (i.e. make a day or remembrance etc.) Meanwhile congress should pass some fucking laws. I've watched on TV these fucking idiots waste my time by standing up on the podium trying to convince other people to "honor this person" and "acknowledge this event." Omfg what is this the grandma super gold-star sticker award show? There's thoroughly drafted resolutions that need to be addressed!

Sorry, I'm drunk, but congress is just full of shit much of the time.
