We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28

The other day I spent some time visiting with a fellow coworker in Christ. She shared with me her life’s story. As she did, tears welled up in my eyes. Her life hasn’t been an easy one. For too many years, people close to her abused her mentally, physically and in other horrible ways.

Something she said really stood out in our conversation. “I’m not bitter. Nor am I angry at God,” she declared. “I know that God loves me. I know that Jesus died for my sins. I know that I’ll live forever one day in heaven. And, until then, I know that God has a good plan for me and that everything has happened for a reason because my God does everything well.” How remarkable! I thought of the times in the Bible when Jesus commended people for their strong faith and trust.

How are you doing? How’s your life been? How’s your life right now? Are you struggling and hurting? Do you feel like giving up?

Hang on, my Christian jock friend.

God loves you with a love that is high and wide and deep in Jesus. At the cross of Good Friday your sins were wiped away by his blood. At his empty Easter tomb death was defeated and the eternal doors of heaven were opened wide for you. At your baptism God put his name on you and adopted you to be his child for now and for eternity. He has a plan for you. Whatever you experience in life—past, present and future— he will use for your good, even when you don’t see how.

It’s true: our God does all things well. Let him be your strength and your song, your fortress and your deliverer.

    Prayer:
Lord, in life’s troubles and sorrows reassure me of your love and abiding presence. Strengthen my trust in you through your promises and Word. Give me confidence that you will use every experience in life to draw me closer to you. Amen.

Wow, that really made me tear up. I feel the exact same way. Despite all I have been through, I wouldn't change any of it. I wouldn't have met all the wonderful people in my life and I most certainly wouldn't be the person I am today. Thanks God. icon_biggrin.gif
