Wow I just watched this and I really liked it. It was a gay movie and there were no groundbreaking messages or anything. Just a fun to watch movie. The protagonist did not deny his sexuality, he doesn't knock up a girl a get her pregnant and no one dies. Plus no one disowns him for being gay.

You can watch the movie on youtube starting here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rnt7svDH3EQ

I love this movie ! It's one of my favorite gay flicks.
It strays far from the usual " boy meets boy at the club/bar/circuit party"
drama, drag and bitch queen quips ensue. Very original...very sweet flick !
...and yes....the eye candy is nice too. icon_wink.gif

Shelter is awesome for one thing: It has a happy ending.

So fucking few gay movies end up happy. Almost all of them end up with one of the main characters dying horribly/being alone (after showing a full frontal of course). Or it's some artsy flick which sails past everyone's heads and end up depressing everyone.

I wish more gay-themed movies were made like this. icon_sad.gif I can only think of a few handful of well-made movies similar to Shelter: All Over the Guy, Big Eden, Broadway Damage, Maurice, Just A Question of Love, Beautiful Thing... heck even campy ones like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert or To Wong Foo, is preferable to the bulk of gay movies so far because they end up happily. Sadly those movies are often the ones with straight actors.

I'm so sick of gay movies being hedonistic, depressing, or just plain weird.

I agree about it being a different movie. Neither guy was a hustler, drug addict, or a selfish, self-centered prick. And they surfed instead of hitting the club meeting the hustler or drug addict's ex-tricks that talks shit about the guy. The movie portrayed gay guys as normal.

And the guys did the right thing at the end.

MeOhMy is saintly for watching this with me the other night. We did each other's nails and worked on our up-dos. If you have a haute minute, I would watch this film - Gabe, the best friend, is certainly a looker. Werk!

I agree it was awesome as was Latter Days, watched both the same day lol. I have some others that are a little strange but they were still good movies. Keep up the good gay films mr movie producers, its nice to have a gay love story from time to time.

What I liked about Shelter above those other movies was that it brought up issues but kept a positive light. It's definitely my favorite gay movie.
