i goto the gym 3-4x a week, but i find im more motivated at random times. is it bad that in addition to the gym i just randomly do sit ups or lift 15lbs dumbbells at home, or do push ups throughout the day.

i like it because it keeps me feeling pumped throughout the day and gives me more chance to work out, i just am afraid that im not giving my body a chance to relax and heal.

i just know when i start relaxing for a day or two i slip out of the habit so i wish i could just do it everyday and thats it.

No, I don't think it is bad unless you are overworking your muscles to the point where they don't have time to recuperate - but that's not what it sounds like.

I read somewhere that short periods of more intensive training - say 20-30 minutes / 3+ times a day may actually be more beneficial for getting your heart rate up - and for getting your matabolism going.

i figure in the amount of time i am sleeping my muscles should get rest.

plus im not doing anything that intense, just some light stuff to define.
