    Rawrgh!

I am working from my home office due to weekend exhaustion and thought, "hey, let me just check the TV; maybe Air Crash Investigation is on." Then I found An American Princess...

My work for the day consists of preparing a website on Norwegian women who struggled and fought for workers' and women's rights throughout their lives (including active participation and leadership in Communist organizations in Norway)...I'm getting increasingly worried about suffering an aneurism due to the wide gap between the two.

Mind you, it isn't the contestants that are so awful; it's the show itself, its adoration for Euro-trash royalty, and its love of its own diamond-studded-scepter-up-the-ass pretention.

I usually love the English-British accent, but blaaaargh!!! Give me a pitchfork! Down with the trashy oppressors!

Seeing as Norway's own current Crown Princess is a former single, divorced mother with a "party" (read drug-usage) background, a commoner if you will, I find this haughtiness on the part of the contestant hosts even more absurd.

When did Americans start caring about foreign entertainment?

...well, USAmericans have cared for foreign entertainment as long as it has been profitable, and even more so following the spread of the Internet.

Samples include Insomnia (originally a Norw.-Swe. film with Stellan Skarsgaard), Ugly Betty, The Office, and Jackass (based on a Finnish show).

Damn these Paris Hilton clones. I'm going to buy all their music, watch their shows, and subscribe to magazines just so I can see how pathetic they really are!

I think the office is based on a British show. Someone even told me the original was better but I'd still have to be convinced.
