My dad left me a Benelli Sport II, 12 ga. It's a pleasure just to carry.

Before I had that I used a Remington 870 with a Nikon slug scope.

I'm licking my chops at the prospect of venison.

    Happy hunting.

I'm in a nostalgic mood this year. Lol. I think I'll use my first hunting rifle which I have had for 43 years: A Marlin Glenfield 30-30. Great for close in work.

Do you still have the Remington 870?

Human season is open year round. In the prime human hunting areas these are the totals to date for 2009:

    Chicago -- 317
    New York -- 293
New Orleans -- 139 (Oddly, these numbers are lower since Katrina, although I hear Houston's numbers are way up.)
    Philly -- 194
    Baltimore - 142
    LA -- 206
    DC -- 89

I do not have the number of humans bagged in Atlanta, but I'm told this year has been a good season. Miami-Dade also seems to be an excellent hunting location this year.

Data was provided courtesy of "The Thug Report."

I have been told that liberal hunters are far better at placing their shots. Conservatives unfortunately, do not shoot very well at least when it comes to the human animal or when they are not in a defensive posture. (The human, er, or at least the type hunted, is often very agressive on the hunt. Hunt with caution.)

Oh, almost forgot....the preferred weapon for human hunting these days appears to the the Glock model 17 in 9MM. But a word of caution on the Glock: do not over oil your Glock. It tends to pick up trash when oily or left unattended at home.

My Grandfather left me a very old Model 94 which packs a hell of a punch on your shoulder, but gets the job done awesomely!

Otherwise, my gpa's been making bows for years, and taught me the art, so we tend to use those...I have yet to get fletching down though :-( So I use store-bought (or catalogue-bought) arrows.

What caliber is your model 94? 30-30 I assume. Since it was your grandfathers, is it a pre-1964 model?

Darkness. It's most effective when taking down deerhunters.

Maybe on your round the deer would have the upper hand. Lol.

On another thought, perhaps you'd participate in the Ultimate Hunt.

You should have posted this in the hunting forum. Now yer gonna get it.

I don't hunt, but support hunting. It helps keep an ecological balance (since we're not bringing back the wolves anytime soon...sigh). I wish the meat were more available to consumers. It's some of the best there is...rich in nutrients from all that wild grazing.

That said, anyone who claims a semiautomatic weapon for the purposes of hunting is a lying douchebag. I'm not much for the hunters who sit on their ass with bait and a blind either.

In order to hunt the humans, I've purchased a Bender and a theme song for when the job has been completed:

I use a 1943 K98 Mauser for deer hunting. Despite the iron sights, I'm accurate up to 550-600 yards. I load the 7.92x57 cartridge with a 198 grain soft point at 2782 feet per second. It gives marginally better performance than a 30-06.

Despite its age and the lightly frosted bore, that rifle will almost shoot minute of angle!

Now, for those of you who have a problem with hunting. I understand; however, a good responsible hunter makes the process almost painless for the animal. The animal is always respected. If I don't think I can get a good clean shot given my current skill level, I will wait. Have you ever seen a natural predator wait until it is sure it can get a humane kill? Hunting is necessary and controls population growth. Overpopulation can cause massive amounts of animals to suffer. Because of hunting, natural resources are actually protected.
