Gays and Conformity

Most of the guys here look the same, talk the same, appear to have the same fake, forced macho attitude, etc. You encounter gay men outside of the internet as well, and they usually don't deviate from an image that's very "safe" and inconspicuous, and they will only associate with people who are exactly like them. In my experience, I have found gays to be some of the most prejudicial, segregated people, and I have encountered a lot of them, have lived in several different regions of the country, etc. I have a hard time believing that what I have witnessed and experienced is extraordinary. I feel as though it's pretty much standard.

I was wondering if this is just an American thing, or if it is the same in other regions of the world.

Your profile says you don't like prejudice, but please re-read what you felt you needed to post.

Why don't you post a profile picture to show everyone how different and unique YOU are?

Do you need a picture to show that you are not prejuidice?

    Don't understand the connection

    I did. And?

QUOTE AUTHOR GOES HEREWhy don't you post a profile picture to show everyone how different and unique YOU are?

For the simple reason that I don't want to be judged, and I know that will happen if I post a picture.

You can, but plenty of men take it to the extreme. Nobody is that one-dimensional. I read the profiles, and each one sounds almost exactly like the next one.

    I get what you're saying...but being a cynic isn't attractive.

Two different points. Two different sentences. The OP rails against the homogeneity of the gay community (including, as he specified--looks), but how do we know he's any different?

He doesn't post a profile picture because if he did, it would show that he isn't different. He's actually the reappearance of Metafor, the most celebrated of all RJ trolls.

I have brown skin and curly black hair that falls down past my chest. The fact that I can attract plenty of women, and even hetero men, and yet consistently get so much flack from gay men because of the way I look speaks volumes to me.

Yes, the gay community is homogenous. That is an understatment. There is a certain ideal in terms of character and appearance that is held up as an example.

I was hoping to hear from some outside of the US, since I've only been exposed to "American" culture. I may eventually decide to leave this place entirely. There are greener pastures...

    How does Metafor look?

We don't know, since he never posted one. But a picture is hardly necessary. As Stendhal used to say, "Le style, c'est l'homme."

Then your previous conclusion was invalid. You don't know what "Metafor" looks like, so how could I reveal myself as Metafor? SMH...

Well you do live in LA. The gay community there -- at least the WeHo community -- is not exactly known for its cultivation of diversity, is it? I'm frankly not sure that the same iconic stereotypes don't prevail in most of the US, but LA is all about image-consciousness in the best and worst senses of the term.

I don't have an attitude. Maybe you are just looking for something that isn't there. And my writing is what it is.

For all this talk of trolls and their apparent reincarnations, I think you're doing a pretty decent job of trolling yourself in this thread.

While I am not verified nor an accual supporter yet, I do read these posts and I find it hard to understand why people that do not have the courtesy to use a photo are allowed to spew their vile thoughts on this site?
