Jimmy Carter in an interview states that much of the protests and animosity against Barack Obama coming from a deep seated racist attitude coming from people esp in the south

Do you guys believe this to be true?

Of course it's true. Here's the proof:

When challenged to explain any of their proclamations...they cannot. Because they are not genuine. It's a masque over their ridiculous racial fear. The entire segment about the czars...classic!

I think there are people out there who'd like Obama to fail, partially because he's a democrat and partially because he's black. Sad to say, but yeah, I agree, I'm glad President Carter had the balls to say it...

Nothing can be said about Obama with his race being a component.

Jimmy Carter is a White Southerner, who was Governor of Georgia. I would tend to believe he knows what he's talking about when it comes to Whites in the South.

I can't help but wonder what misogynist things we would be hearing if Hilary was president. In addition too, since she is both a woman and a Clinton sex would constantly be on the minds of the idiots of the right.

Runinthecity - when I watch your video my toes curl in embarrassment. During the elections I was really interested in Ron Paul's message and his ideas about government. I was surrounded by idiots like this whenever I went to hear him speak.

If she was president and tackling health care again... the same thing would be happening. The right would be doing precisly whats happening now no doubt.

I have always believed that so much of the ridiculousness I have seen, particularly the Hitler moustache drawn on Obama's face, is people trying their damndest to play the race card without making it look like they are overtly playing it.

And for whatever it's worth, I, personally, have not yet seen one non-white, non-Anglo-Saxon, non-Christian pulling the kind of shit you've seen at the town meetings and the 9/12 rally.

Sure there is SOME racism involved. Not like that is exactly news. But I don't think the color of Obama's skin is as big of an issue to most as some would have you believe.

At least Carter stood for something (thank goodness) and I'd never rank him anywhere the bottom (and btw neither do historians). And I always pay attention when he says something....

And the idea ANYONE would say "would he just die".... is way beyond....icon_evil.gif

I think we can all agree that you need to be put out of your misery a long time before he is.

What have you contributed to society other than taking up space and oxygen that can be better used by people with iqs over 20

Yes, what's your point? Those crazies marching on Washington are hardly speaking for average Americans.

of course it's true. But on a much larger scale what we are seeing is a major shift in consciousness. In the vast majority there are those who are adaptable and are embracing change. But on the other end there are remnants of the past; those who are rigid and fear change. To these poor souls nothing represents bigger change than waking up on November 5th to a black family in the White House.

    Tim,

Speaking as an African American and I'm an expert on this subject....hint, hint, wink, wink. There is a lot that one can say if you disagree with president with not race being a factor.

It is the matter in which these attacks are being luanched which makes it a racial issue.

It would be pretty short sighted if I thought that every non-person of color who did not agree with the president were racist. That's just stupid.

When I engage in a conversation with my white counter parts regarding the president both republican and Hilary supporters who disagree with the president listen to the content of what they are saying and how they are saying.

This thing of he being compared to Hilter, and his still being called a Muslim...I mean come on.

I live in the South now and I have to tell you it has indeed been a learnin experience for me. It was quite a shock the level covert bigotry that is in our own gay community. It's the dirty little secret that no one wants to admit to but know that it's there.

It's like the crazy relative that you hope won't show up at Thanksgiving dinner and have a moment during dinner to make things more lively.
