Steam Room / Gym Trolls

  • Dec 11, 2007 5:02 AM GMT
My partner and I are getting very frustrated that the shower / steamroom area of our upscale gym is being taking over by overweight, creepy trolls.

Yesterday we were in the steam room after a workout, this disgusting man who looked like he could be my grandfather (except he was out of very out of shape) started masturbating while looking right at me, salivating. Every time we go to the gym it seems that there are more and more trolls. The situation is so bad that some of the guys won't even take showers at the gym because the trolls are always hanging around the showers.

I am shocked by the brazen behavior of these trolls, when you clearly indicate to them you are not interested in their "affection" they don't relent they seem to get more agressive. Many of the younger guys won't even go in the steam room anymore because they have to deal with all of these overweight, obnoxious and married (some have their wedding rings rings on...) men.

Any ideas how we should handle this situation? Should we turn these guys into the management? should we confront them? I don't feel that we shouldn't be able to take showers or use the steam room because of these guys?

We go to the gym to workout and use the facilities not to deal with people with bad behavior. What's irronic is that Chicago's has several bathhouses near this gyms locations.

Recently this situation seems to be getting better, I think a lot of guys started confronting the trolls. I think when they realize they don't get what they want they tend to go away.

Any ideas on how we should confront these guys would be great.

I would tell management (although it will be embarrassingicon_redface.gif). If that doesnt work then I would confront these creeps.

If you are made to feel uncomfortable in your own gym, management should be made aware and they should prevent this type of harassment in their establishment.

But is it only the old, overweight creepy trolls that bother you, or would you feel the same if the younger hot guys were doing the same?

well you give him a show of his life and maybe he will get a heart attack right on the spot.

you could take your phone with you and take a picture of him and that would totally freak him out.

    You could threaten life.

You could get a fake police badge and flash him that and tell him your an of duty cop who could make a quick phone call.

How about yelling out real loud "oh Gross what the fuck is wrong with you."

personally i like the first option .

let us know what you decide to do!

I'd advocate screaming "what the fuck are you staring at you decrepit perv!" or find a new gym lol. icon_cool.gif

Tell management. Until they do something about, look at the man doing it and say "Wow! That looks just like a penis, only a lot smaller."

Depending on my mood, I'd either ignore the dudes (and tell management) or tell them off.

I find that kind of thing to be really disgusting (when its done in uninviting way like what your describing). I'd probably be tempted to make some really crude remarks and tell them off.icon_twisted.gif

My local gym is a "troll-magnet." I kid you not. What really kills me is that so many of these guys make no attempt to be discrete. They arrive, take their clothes off and head straight for the steamrooms and thats where they stay...FOR HOURS!!! Its mind-boggling. You see these morbidly obese, terribly out-of-shape men, with their 50 gallon beer guts cruising the lockeroom. Its like they are in their own little world. Its sad, so sad!

It is so tiring when they can't take a hint. You dont want to become openly rude to people, but, wow, when they just won't take the hint, it is so annoying.

This seems to be a problem all over. Certain gyms are becoming notorious (at least here in NYC) for action in the showers and saunas. Guys are even posting to meet on CraigsList at the gyms.
If you really feel uncomfortable (would you feel uncomf. if the guy was hot and not some fat slob?) tell the management. Take a camera phone pic and tell the slob you'll show the mgt. if he doesn't stop. Hey you pay FEES to join a gym to work out and shower, not to have some skanky slob waving his bloated stub at you.
You would think these overweight horndogs would get the hint eventually....they get turned down everywhere and they actually think some guy at a gym of all places is gonna take them up on a sleazy offer. Why don't they start a chubby chaser gym and never use a machine and stay in the shower room THERE!

It should not be a question of what the guy giving you unwanted attention looks like; the only issue here is the total lack of tact and disrespect he is showing you. I don't think telling management would make a difference. They make money and these trolls pay money to go there. Infact, it behooves the gym to have attractive men who work out there to attract the trolls.
My advice is, the next time you see a troll waving anypart of himself at you in an unorderly manner that you tell him to stop. Now you can do this politely or as colorful as you like but make sure it is assertive and he KNOWS you mean business. Keep in mind, that most of these guys are nice people its just that they tend to overcompensate when they see something they like.
I wouldn't normally condone this, but I think your telling off of this troll should be farely public (so the others get the picture too) and as much as a spectacle as the degree of the problem warrants. I know you don't like to get nasty, but I think if you do this once, you won't need to again.

If someone were to engage in this sort of behavior anywhere else but a gym/club in a gay area, they'd be subject to arrest.

unless you're in a bathhouse, there's no excuse for this shit. if your gym is truly upscale, they'll listen to your complaints - when i have commented about dirty lockers and bad water pressure in toilets at mine, the stuff got fixed relatively quickly.

i'd even say if this keeps up, you should hang out at the exit, wait for the guy to make his way out, then say, in something other than a whisper, something like 'Yeah, I'd like to tell you that this guy, oh look, there he is! was beating off in the steam room today..." If the situation doesn't improve, i'd go so far as to post my own sign in the lockerroom, saying if i see anyone doing this, i'll call police and i'm encouraging others to, as well.

Well the next time you go to the sauna, you could have made a little sign off your computer in advance

"Any Creepy Trolls are not allowed, unless you mind your own business"......

You think I'm kidding... if the management doesn't do anything.. I would. I wouldn't hesitate.icon_evil.gif

Gym 'nark? Why would you care...its not acceptable for anyone to be jerking off in a public steam room. Tell management immediately, at this point it is a loss prevention concern for them.
