The idea of inhaling nicotine laced water vapor seems kinda dumb to me. But to each his own. icon_neutral.gif

I think this is a step in the right direction towards getting healthier, but obviously quitting entirely would be ideal. These have been around for 15 plus years, but under a different name. They are called vaporizers, and were mainly targeted towards weed smokers as a healthier alternative. I'm sure your friends lungs will appreciate it.

I was wondering is this less harmful than smoking a real cigarette (i.e., cancer stick)? Also, if it has actually helped people stop smoking? My roommate has tried to kick the habit (e.g. used Nicotine gum etc.) but seems unable to stop smoking. He currently smokes American Spirit because they contain less additives than regular cigarettes. I hope this is a step in the right direction for him to stop smoking.

It is significantly healthier, as the number of carcinogens and tars are greatly minimized. It heats up the tobacco to about 360 degrees, well below combustion point. This is hot enough to bring the tar to a boil and release the nicotine, but not hot enough to burn it and create smoke. Back in my weed smoking days, I used a vaporizer because I was worried about my lungs. I don't think it will help him quit or cut back though, as hes still inhaling the addictive properties, nicotine.

Yes,Because they still have to go through some more testing. The smoke that comes out of them is also the same stuff that comes out of a fog machine. Soooo,They want to make sure that it's safe for the lungs. I saw it in the news a few months ago. Also there was a booth at the mall and they look so funny.

I've seen these being sold at little booths in the mall. I think it's stupid. I used to be a smoker - cold turkey was what worked for me. Any nicotine "therapy" only made the quitting process more difficult. I had to resolve to just quit, and deal with the withdrawal symptoms (which honestly aren't that bad), then as time went on I just forgot about smoking as I focused more on my life and enjoying my newly found freedom.

There have been reports of other chemicals being included in the refils for these devices, some potentially more poisonous that smoking a regular fag.

Nicotine is a poison no matter how they try to make it less offensive. These type of gimmicks are nothing more than marketing gimmicks which feed into people's denial. 1 drop of pure nicotine is enough to put someone out of their misery per my instructor in my Addictive Process Class.

Ok people, please stop using the word that it’s, "healthier." Say it’s less harmful than real cigarettes but still harmful nevertheless.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced July 22 2009 that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze.

Public health experts expressed concern that electronic cigarettes could increase nicotine addiction and tobacco use in young people

sxydrkhair saidElectric Cigarette kinda remind me of Hookah, because this product carry several flavors like mints, apple, and watermelons, etc.

    Here is my Hookah ;-)

Hookah, Sheesah, hubbly Bubbly... smoke! they all seem pretty much the same... A vaporizer Is something completely different though. It does not simply filter the smoke... there is no smoke to start with! Problem I have with those electronic cigarette things are that they seem to contain all the harmful chemicals that cigarettes do minus the smoke... Guess at least it eliminates emphysema but you're still going to get cancer.
