California Man Moves to Ban Divorce
    by Advocate.com on 9/17 at 6:36 pm.

    By Advocate.com Editors

Wanda Sykes said it best -- the biggest threat to marriage is divorce. So one California man has taken it upon himself to introduce an amendment banning the big D.

John Marcotte, the editor of a website called BadMouth.net, is collecting signatures to pass the "California Protection of Marriage Act." He's doing it, he says, to mock the proponents of Proposition 8. He told CNN this act is the "logical extension of Proposition 8."

His website further mocks the "sanctity of marriage" argument antigay operatives have employed to oppose equality with his own campaign slogans, including "Jesus still loves you if you get divorced -- just not as much as before" and "You said 'Til death do us part.' You're not dead yet."

While I do not think that it will get enough support to pass, I think he is making a great point. I have heard this argument before, but never seen it applied. I love it.

Its another way of saying if your going to use the Bible as a source for laws, then you have to use it all. You cant just pick and chose what you want to use out of there. God hates divorce!

I don't think we should ban divorce for everyone. Only the ones that supported Prop 8 shouldn't be allowed to divorce.

    Because misery loves company..

That would be wonderfully mean spirited, but it wouldn't be realistic or fair.
Why not make it harder for couples to get divorces. That way the sanctity of marriage is further protected?

Whats going on to that woman seems unfair, but the story also seems one-sided. But that's because no one is offering any other information other than whats in the court affidavits. I am curious to see what happened in court yesterday.

I hope he gets enough signatures to get it on the ballot....that would be awesome. Let the mofos have to vote it down and show their hypocrisy.

This has been my point all along when people say that gays shouldnt able to marry. My response has always been, "so you're against divorce then?"

Meh, it wont pass, but it's good that the point is being made.

Oh I think this could succeed.

Christians and gays should champion this very worthwhile cause

They should restrict it to religious marriages.
