This scene in the movie "Enchanted' really brings out the 'fairy aspects' of Central Park.

As a hopeless romantic, I luv the see the park with the neo classical skycrapers in the background; they look like faraway gigantic castles! I think the skyscrapers are on 5th avenue and Central Park West Avenue. Gorgeous!

I was in Central Park, New York back in 1984. Yes, it is really enchanting. A green lung in the middle of concrete jungle. I even have a picture with the back drop of geenery and those skycraper in the back. But those day Cnetral Park is a dangerous place to be in the night. The nite after my visit, we heard on tv, they find a murder victim at the very place we visited earlier that day.

I really didn't like Central Park. It was just too perfect. Well placed groves of trees, little rock outcroppings that were a bit too conveniently perfect to be natural, paths that just happen to meander through picturesque scenes. Then, there was the fun of the fact that most all of the open green spaces I came across were freaking fenced off! What's the point of a park if you can't go play in the grass? It does look beautiful, and I respect the architectural achievement that created it, but all in all it leaves me with the feeling of looking at a landscape that's artificially designed to be perfectly aesthetic, which to me is not appealing. I really enjoyed Fort Tryon Park, it was my personal favorite of NYC.

southbeach1500 saidFunny thing... I lived in NYC for 20 years and visited Central Park like maybe 5 times total.... Now that I live in Miami and just visit NYC a few times a year, I visit Central Park almost every time I am up there!

I find it unbelievable that you ever lived in NYC.

Nyers must have driven you out

I agree.... Truly beautiful and big enough to get lost in haha. Some people who moved to Chicago from NYC say that Chicago's Lincoln Park is just as nice. BULLSHIT. I wish Chicago had a park so vast and peaceful.

I love the park, it's funny how i'v always wanted to live along the park as a kid,and to finally grow up and have the park right across the street is a dream come true...The down side is,,seeing where i work from my patio everyday....
Once i posted a pic of me on the patio [on another site] and this dude figured out where i lived and showed the doorman my pic and wanted to talk to me...I wasnt home and the doorman told him to go away or he was going to call the police...Once he told me that i took that pic down fast...LOL
But i love the park, sometimes i imagine it all belongs to me...rambles included.
    hehehe.......You know i'm not that kinda guyicon_wink.gif
