Is it better to give than to receive?

My partner and I work with a non-profit called Heifer International (www.heifer.org). Heifer International works in over 50 countries, including the US, to fight hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. They do that by providing livestock to people so they can provide themselves with food and income to help end the cycle of poverty. Receipients become donors by "Passing on the Gift" to others when they give their offspring to others in need. We help run the local volunteer group in Portland, OR and my partner does all the social media for them. You can check out the blog at http:heiferportland.blogspot.com.

We are involved in a contest to try to win a trip to Las Vegas to attend BlogWorld Expo next month. This would be a huge opportunity for us. The top 10 non-profits get a free pass to the expo and the top 3 also get free travel. As of this writing we are in 10th place...dangerously close to missing this opportunity.

You can help by simply going to http://www.nameyourcause.com/view-charity/75.html and voting for us. You can vote once every 4 hours until noon on Tuesday pacific time. So please vote often! We would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

You are a hero. Everytime I find someone shooting off their month about some eco tisue or is going to spend money on another fucking ridiculous eco gadget that they don't need i tell them to put their money where their month is and buy a goat for someone that could really use it.

Great cause. I wish I had been aware of it when I used to live in Portland so I could have lent a hand.

I have cast my vote and posted it on my Facebook as well. Here is hoping you get to the top 3.

Good name for the thread. How many of us thought it would be about sexual positions? huh...

I have a question about "we have the right to remove duplicate votes." What is a duplicate vote if you are able to vote again for the specific charity again after 4 hours?

Duplicate votes are more than one vote for a particular organization. Some figured out how to get the vote button to come back and abuse the system. However, they can spot any abuse and remove votes as they deem necessary (I've seen it happen).

Thanks for voting...less than 19 hours left to go. Keep us in the top 10!
