I think this will be interesting.

I was totally unaware of myself until 10th grade when my best friend came out to me as gay. Then in about a second everything that had been going on with me forever made perfect sense. It was still at least a year after before I really started coming out though.

What made you realize that you were gay?

    ahahaha oh god!

My friends sister was on the computer and was going to check her HotMail account, but by accident she typed HotMale and this gay porn site popped up. Later that night (I spent the night) when everyone was sleeping I went on the computer and investigated the site...icon_biggrin.gif

I only ever got sexually aroused when thinking about men. I used to flip through the "International Male" and "Kiefer Swimming" catalogs to where there wer just guys in swimsuits/underwear, and I couldn't take my eyes away! I started coming out at 14, and told my parents at 16.

Antonio Sabato, Jr. in Janet Jackson's "Love Will Never Do" video. And I would get superhard whenever they showed Jean-Claude Van Damme's ass whether it was Timecop, Universal Soldier, or Double Impact. The "split" shot from Timecop was legendary.

About 4 years ago I impulsively grabbed this guy and kissed him.
It was all over right then and there.

When I realized that a gay man doesn't necessarily have a lisp, switch when he walks, lust for young boys, and dress in womens clothing. I knew I liked boys at a very young age (when i was in kindergarten) but pushed it to back of my mind because being gay meant you were "weird/bad/strange/outcast". Ridiculous bullshit, I know. When I realized that was not the definition of a homosexual (age 18 ) I realized that I was one too.

when, as an 11 year old utterly clueless and vulnerable kid, i was excited when an older male stranger sucked me off in a public toilet (for the first time) while my parents waiting outside.

    8th grade
I was staring at boys changing during gym or a school play.
I wish I had understood I think I would have been a much more confident young adult. I didn't gain confidence until I got recongized for my weight lifting gains. Now I'm not big by any means but at an earlier age I was definately showing some muscle.
I came out to my family on Thanksgiving 1997 when in College. Been out ever since and love it.

Well I didn't realise it at the time but going to a boys school and having a crush on some of my classmates is probably where it started. I never knew what sexuality was at the time but I didn't admit it until about 5 years ago when a friend offered to go drinking at a gay bar - she's notorious for dragging men out of the closet ;) - and I felt so at home, so relaxed, so in my place that it all became apparent.

The Top Ten Ways to Know You're Gay (right-wing edition):

Number 10: Most of your friends are just like Jack in "Will & Grace."
Number 9: You take longer to dress than any girl you know.
Number 8: You own a T-shirt that says: "I'm not gay, but my boyfriend is."
Number 7: You ever flipped through someone's International Male catalogue -- and took it home with you.
Number 6: You own more makeup than your mother.
Number 5: You salute when you pass a rainbow flag.
Number 4: You've actually seen the Gay Agenda in writing.
Number 3: You think Barney Frank is hot.
Number 2: You buy your underwear at Victoria's Secret.
And the Number 1 way to know you're gay: you think you're a straight Republican.

I was in denial for most of my life ...
but I remember seeing a picture in a regular magazine
of a shirtless guy and I think I was 15 years old
and it all came together ...
    and I had a revelation

Seriously, for once: when a gay guy, in an online BBS social site, told me that many gay men are completely masculine. That they can be truck drivers, and police & firefighters, and football players, construction workers, and Army soldiers, and...

Wait a minute! And Army WHAT? I was an Army soldier for 25 years! I thought that guaranteed I couldn't be gay. And I'm a motorcyclist, and I don't have a lisp, and I don't like to wear women's clothes, or wear makeup, or do any of those gay things.

And he told me those are complete stereotypes, that are true for a few gay men, but not for most. The true test of being gay is not outward behavior, but sexual attraction: which sex attracts you most, men or women?

That was all I needed to hear, and literally within a day I came out. No regrets, no relapses, no trauma or drama, just came out and began my new gay life as smoothly as relocating from one city to another. Though I do admit I think I was long overdue, and ready for it to happen. icon_biggrin.gif

I must be sheltered. I grew up in the 80's and went to Catholic schools. I swear I didn't hear the word gay or fag used in a derogatory way, which is weird because there was alot a kid on kid cruelty . I guess what I'm trying to say is that sexuality wasn't a part of my early years.

Around 7th grade, my best friend at the time was this hunky soccer jock. He would kick his soccer ball against our house, shirtless. I remember thinking, "Why can't I keep my eyes off of him?" LOL!

He would also take me on long rides on his three wheeler. I used to love being that close to him.

Well, I grew up in South Africa until I was nine. I always knew I was 'different' in some way. In school I only played with the girls (the boys intimidated me) and actually used to get into a lot of trouble for it from the teachers. It became such a big deal for them that my parents were called and forced to organize playdates with the toughest boys (read: bullies) in my class. It never took and eventually my father told the school to mind it's business and stop traumatizing young kids (this is South Africa in the early 80s don't forget).
When we moved to Canada and I started High School I still had a lot of girlfriends but there was one boy I couldn't stop thinking about. I realized one day while I was lying in bed (read: jerking off) that I was thinking about a guy and that probably wasn't the 'normal' male fantasy. It all just clicked.
About two years later I started to creep out of the closet and have never looked back.

I knew I was attracted to men for a long time, but I never wanted to admit that I was gay. I kept trying to convince myself that I was bi. I didn't come out to most of my friends until I had been dating a guy for about 9 months, and most of them were not surprised (that was about 3 year ago). I am getting ready to come out to my family soon (really just my parents), and I think things will go well, but I am still nervous.

I knew I was attracted to guys when I was 13. It was obvious in class, especially gym class. However, I grew up in the early 1970's before gay was even mentioned much, before the internet. I assumed that most guys liked guys and that interest in girls was just a put-on. It wasn't until I read "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, But Were Afraid to Ask" at age 15 that I realized I was different from most of the other boys. That book, filled with sterotypes, helped keep me in the closet for seven years until I found out that those stereotypes were exaggerated. I went from dating women to seeing men overnight.

I really like that... Prolly how i'd put it as well.. only for me, it was probably around age 8 maybe. Of course that's when I knew I liked guys but didn't know it meant I was gay or even just not straight. I remember looking at the really hot guys in a magazine. One was a milk ad actually, lol. Mommy lost that magazine as it went under my bed, LOL... Idk why I just loved to look at it. They weren't nude or anything, (duh... milk ad..) but still it was enough to make me aware I suppose. Then by the time I was 13 and everyone in school was calling me gay I was like wtf, and just gave in and thought to myself, "ok, I guess i'm gay... here we go, where do I start, what do I do now?"

When I think of that school thing It almost makes me feel like I was told I was gay so many times that it just got planted in my head.. So sad, not that I regret it or anything. I just feel I was persuaded into something I shouldn't have been.. but on the other hand there was that magazine when I was around 8 years old.. LOL so who knows..

That's my story and i'm stickin to it!! lol.

I remember going over a friend's house and we got our hands on his Dad's porn collection. There was a scene with some girl on girl action and I was just totally disgusted by it. Now I love my lesbians but sight of a clitoris just makes me gag...

a wild, drunken 3 way with my best friend and his wife showed me my true self.

after she passed out on us; i felt his hand on my Pierced Penis. i deceided to "go with the flow". icon_lol.gif

about 5 hours later, as i awoke, hard & happy, wrapped up in his arms and legs, i thought: "wow! this explains a LOT of things".

young'ns....we had to make do with the Sears catalog with any hint of the male genitalia airbrushed out.

I realized I was gay just cuz I was attracted to boys as soon as the hormones kicked in.

When I was in elementary school, maybe as early as 7 or 8, I knew that I was different somehow. I also had this Superman sticker on my bedpost and would just look at it sometimes but really didn't know why I was so fascinated with it.

    2603629481_8955694d99_m.jpg

I knew I was attracted to men at 11/12 years old. That was the point where I was saying to myself "Ok, I think you're gay". I went back and forth between trying to change it (by only fantasizing about women...which didn't feel right) and enjoying a kind of confidence that came from being unique and knowing who I truly was.

I came out to my best friend when I was 16. He was so completely supportive and ok with it, that it solidified my own confidence.
