Hot! I'm doing the conservative Diesel jeans with aviators. Nothing that scandalous, considering I often run into clients while out. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for you Shane.

Respectfully, chaps are always assless. That is what makes them chaps and not leather pants.

But, please post lots and lots of photos to warm my erection by through the long winter.

I'll be there, or at least in the city if not the Fair.

Accidentally, it turns out. I've been meaning to visit a friend there for the last year but have been way too busy to find time/money. Then in early July, American Airlines had a pretty good fare sale to SFO for $198, running from August through October. I texted my friend to ask which weekend in September was best, the first or the last. He picked this one, so I booked the flight. About an hour later, he texts me back with "OMG I totally spaced out and forgot that is also the week of Folsom!"

Honestly I'm ambivalent about it. On the one hand, there'll be a big event to go to if I want to do something unusual, but on the other hand I'm assuming that means the city and some of the cafes/bars/diners will be packed with people all the time. To me a nice simple neighborhood bar is a place to hang out, shoot some pool, have conversation with friends, study the strangers passing by, and hopefully hear some good music (live or otherwise). Had I known I was going to face the possibility of wall-to-wall bodies and pulsating dance music and VIP cover charges, I would have picked another weekend.

Are these concerns unfounded? If you stay away from Folsom Street itself, what are the chances of still having a normal weekend in the Castro or just hanging out in Dolores park with a frisbee and a book?

Meh @ shielding children from sexuality. If I ever have any I hope that I maintain the state of mind that a broad experience and education trumps social pressures to "protect the children!" and wring my hands. Children come from sex, they all have sexuality of their own that's latent (until it isn't), and eventually they're all gonna start fucking around anyway. I think it's best to equip to think and make decisions about anything and everything (including sex) as soon as they can begin to understand what you're talking about. Eight years old? Kids are intensely curious at that age, they're smarter than most adults think they are, and can benefit a lot from a broad range of regulated, safe experiences. I don't see anything wrong with taking a kid that age to something like Folsom as long as you're a good educator about what they're seeing. Explain that it's diversity of people's sexuality on diplay, that sex has a social meaning, that it has mental and physical risks and rewards, that they don't have to do everything they see grown-ups doing, and that you trust them enough to let them see what they're seeing but that they'll be happier in the long run if they give themselves time to mature and make responsible decisions about sex before they have it themselves. And as long as you've taught them before you set foot out the door that they can tell you what they're feeling and that only want what's best for them, if you get there and they can't handle what they see because they aren't ready yet, they'll tell you "I don't like this place" or "I'm scared." So you take them someplace safe, you talk about it, and you let them come to you when (if) they come to feel ready to try and take in that experience again. Maybe they never do, but at least they're informed a little about the decision they're making. For instance, I want any kids of mine, when presented with a plate of food, to be able to say "oh, I don't like X because I've tried it," not "I don't want any of X because I don't like it... well no, I haven't tried it, but I just don't like it." (Which isn't to say I think kids should be pressed to *engage* in sexual activity ASAP. People twisting my words makes me want to break their hands in a vice.)

Because what's the alternative, really? Putting off "the talk" as long as possible, skirting around the subject year after year, dreading more and more as time goes by that they'll see something sexual flipping through channels on TV or surfing the internet and that the older they get without having been talked to about it the more they might resent you for withholding important information they need to mature; implicitly teaching them that there's something 'unspeakable' about human sexuality, embedding shame and embarrassment around the topic and then freaking out when they come to you needed a prescription for some anti-STD medication because they secretly experimented younger than you ever thought they would?

I think kids can handle a *lot* more info than we presently entrust them with, as long as we hold their hands and explain to them the meaning of what they're seeing or what we're telling them, and we encourage them to use their heads and to think things through and to be patient and responsible. Keep 'em safe but don't keep 'em ignorant; trust them with all the information they can soak up, and let them know they can trust you to help them through the uncertainty that comes with knowing a lot about the world, and they'll turn out fine.

My friend lives over near Golden Gate Park, I've had some great food so far -- excellent khao soy, my favorite Thai dish.

We went to the Eagle last night for some live music. A couple of the bands were pretty good, although it's somewhat weird to see people of all types enjoying an on-stage band at a gay bar. Back in Texas most people seem to take The Eagle so seriously, like it has to be this dark, smoky "scene" experience with everyone's sexual genre (Daddy, SIR, Coach, boy, pig, sub) clearly identified by their clothing (or lack thereof). I liked the crowd last night -- just a bunch of folks having a good time; no one seemed all that concerned about expressing or preserving the homogeneity of the sub-sub-subcultural identifiers.

Unfortunately, I have a really bad knot in my left should from the plane ride and carrying my bags. Maybe I should add my name to Mscldrew's thread about getting a friendly massage, haha. Actually I just need to get one of those little wheely carts instead of slinging things around my neck all the time. I'm gonna go find a gym in a little bit and try to work it off.

The weather today is gorgeous!

It's you're a buzzkill not your. Shit like this just makes it tougher for men to marry and have kids-so all of you go and fuck silly- I don't give a shit I have my own money and so does my guy( 6 years now)- wait till one of you want to marry for benefits or survival rights or the right to say how your partner should be cared for if they are hospitalized and you might not have the money to get a lawyer for power of attorney-just keep thinking for today like a bunch of teenagers.

Hey Mike, 1) If you don't like it, then don't do it. 2) It's not just about sex. Folsom is about diversity, freedom, and acceptance, not about imposed social propriety. 3) If you're going to put someone on blast, try proofing your own profile. "I'm def not the kind of guy that let's my sexuality rule my life!!" There's no apostrophe for "lets" in that syntax.

*PHEW* Now that that's done ... I HAD A BLAST!!! Looked for the RJ booth, but didn't see one. Wish I could've met some RJ'ers, but ... oh well. There's always next year!

I wasn't feeling well by the end of the night and have been sick all day today. I completely forget how cold it can quickly get and what with having no clothes on and little insulation, it makes sense that I'm all coldy. That and the microbes.

It's very festive many people in costume or just trying to look as sexy as possible. Since your in Texas you might want to check out decandence in New Orleans for labor day. The parties are cheap like the men lol. Lots of extreme showcases. Some say it's more extreme than Folsom.

ok grammar boy- Prime example- a guy who played on my volleyball team who was married to a woman for 8 years and has 3 girls under the age or 12, went to Flosom 2009. He has been out for the last 5 years and has excusively dated men. I told him to be safe out there. He has a great build nice smile, great personality. He too had a BLAST! He met and hooked up with a guy he met at Folsom- He went just to see the festivities and social freedom you spoke of, but men will be men he said. Sadly he just got a text this week from this man informing him he has genital herpes, and he has been under treatment for it so it's ok. My buddy is shitting a brick now! What fun!! Now the guys said they only had oral it shouldn't be a problem!!?? He asked prior about hiv std's the guy lied-go figure, why would a guy lie to "family"?
Yes I didn't go and would never. Don't expect respect from the powers to be in this country. Everyone knows what happens at these events and circuit parties like this (it's about sex), so go stick your head in the sand and "let's" see how this all improves gay rights!! "phew" Go put your rainbow flag pole in your munt-hole and wave it-mary Obama doesn't give a rat's ass about gay men as is! It's against his religion and family values, Arnold has done more for gay rights and he's a republican.

I've been once. It was wild and fun. No desire to do it again, however.

For me it was a "been there, done that" sort of experience.

It's impossible to get Hep C from anal/oral contact. It's a blood transmitted disease.

LOL, ED. I was at a bar down here in SJ on Sat night, and I've resigned the fact that I'm going to have my ass grabbed every so often in a crowded gay bar. But, there was an older couple of gentlemen walking behind me, and one of the guys was like ... massaging back there. I started swatting at this hands, pulling them off and pushing him away, saying, "All you get is a grab. You don't get to linger. Move it, MOVE IT!" He looked terrified and almost ran away.

I didn't realize it, but everyone around me was watching. I turned around and the whole crowd started laughing.
Nov 19, 2009 5:23 PM GMT
I don't know if I could take a 8yr old to a fair like that though. From what I've seen on some videos... I don't know how I would react if I saw and knew my own 8yrs old saw a guy giving another guy a blow job or for that matter fucking. I mean yeah... I don't think they should be sheltered but there is a lot of responsibility to taught to them before they should see something like that.... at least i think.

You're lying and not even bright enough to come up with an even remotely plausible fabrication. Someone who rimmed him might have gotten Hep-A from him or vice versa. Unless his ass was torn and bleeding and the guy rimming him bit through his own tongue while doing it, Hep-C transmission to him is pretty damned near impossible.

I didn't realize it, but everyone around me was watching. I turned around and the whole crowd started laughing.

Well done! FE!
I hear you... the occasional ass grab is almost mandatory in a lot of gay bars. I've accepted that too, but I'm not too big on the "kneading of my dough".
I laughed when I read your post, I would have paid money to see that guys face. LOL

MikemikeMike saidwell he didn't get herpes, but he left out he rimmed and got rimmed many times and he's got Hep C- He's not saying it was a blast anymore. He did say it was mostly about sex and hook ups!!

You're a Dr now too huh?? He has it. I don't care what you think. His life is forever changed. Eventhough he admitted to having sex and getting sex with a condom, they both gave each other rim jobs. You're an idiot his Dr said his parner had possible anal tears and there was a blood and saliva mix.

Ask guys on here who got an std or hiv poz from a circuit party or fuck fair?? Anyone going to admit it?????????

FierceEyes saidLOL, ED.

I think that's a San Jose thing, I went to Splash there and the groping older gentlemen were ruthless! Lol They are not sly about it at all.
