This is Organic Chemistry 2... first week of exams, no examinations are dropped.

I forgot to check my e-mail over the weekend and happened to look upon this. Pretty irresponsible, but shocking lol. I admit, I laughed a bit while in shock that something could happen.

Would you stick out the class? Or drop it? (Losing ~$410)

(Of course, for confidentiality... names/e-mail were removed)

Well, if she didn't remember there was going to be an exam on Friday, she probably would have flunked it if she had shown up anyway. I would always start studying a week before all me org chem exams.

but geesh...$410 is wicked cheap for the course!!!

She needs to withdrawal. At the Organic Chem 2 level the excuse of "I forgot there was a test can I retake" won't fly at all. The first test in that class is the easiest, so she'll be fighting a very, very hard battle just to even pass. I'm guessing if she's taking OC2 she's also taking other tough courses. Withdrawing will give her more time to make great grades in the other classes.

Check the syllabus and see how much any individual exam is worth. It may be possible to recover.

But, most likely, withdraw from the class. It's too high of a level of class for a professor to care about an excuse of "I didn't read the syllabus and therefore didn't show up to the exam." It's early enough you probably wouldn't even get a W on the transcript, and in most universities a completely full schedule with a single class dropped will still qualify as full time student status.

Talk to the Professor. The shit some of them put up with could fill the Augean stables.

I'm with Munching - it sucks for those who have their shit together in the class, but some profs will actually try and figure something out. I'm going to be a total dick if I ever teach ;)

For 3 credit hours (Organic 2) the price is $410, but for 4 credit hours it is $530. I think it's the same price throughout Florida, and yes, it is in-state for me. The majority of students within Florida don't necessarily pay for tuition because we have a scholarship called Bright Futures (100%, 75%, or 50% tuition...), but due to cut backs starting this semester... if you drop then you have to repay for the lost scholarship money (which we've never done before).

I would probably never forgive myself and I'd have to, of course, drop from the course because there is no way that a professor would allow an examination to occur (especially since she posted the key later on).

    Lol. I wish Erikk.

Drop-add week was the first week of classes (or I think the 2nd week as well). Dropping now would result in a "W".
