this movie originally came out two years ago when i was in film school and it really pisses me off bc the original was released a while ago and scared the shit out of everyone and made huge buzz, it made so much buzz that paramount bought the film only to remake it and never release the original...so...hollywood is lame once again

i wonder if the audience reaction is to the original or this new "glossy" version

You knew that horror movies were created just to induce cuddling, fear being the next best pretext, right? icon_smile.gif

Knowing, which is a form of thinking, is not affection, which is feeling. No matter how much I know what these movies are made for, I still get sucked into them and then cry myself to sleep until I have sex.

Looking forward to seeing this, though I'm sure it's probably not that scary. I'm reminded of the godawful Blair Witch Project....

It does look okay, but I think it would be better if there was a monster or some sort of creature in it.

This trailer was way too gimmicky. Cutting to audience reactions broke the tension the film was establishing (and made it a cluttered mess).

When it first started by showing the audience, I started hoping that the actual film was about the audience and that the on-screen film was a fictional film-within-a-film. Gradually, creepy things could happen with or around the audience, maybe having the on-screen film blur out and change to a filming of the audience (only with spooky reveals, such that some of the audience members don't show up on the screen or that some of them look different or dead).

    ***
Bah, give me a revival of MTV's Fear and I'll be far more happy icon_biggrin.gif Oh, and a side of Poltergeist (the original, not the in-the-making remake).

[edited to include second paragraph on the trailer]

I like these Point Of View films
Cloverfield was one of my favorite movies

It gives a movie a new reality
BUT .... then again if it's used wrong it can really suck
Blair Witch comes to mind icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't know whether you get this in America, but over here in the UK we have a TV channel, "Living" which from time to time screens a program, "Most Haunted" where a team of researchers, including a sceptic, investigates a haunted building at night, using only infra-red lighting. There, when a team member calls out into the air, "Is there anyone here? Reveal yourself by making a noise ot whatever..." Usually a rapping sound occurs at the other end of the corridor, a door opens or closes by itself, and on one occasion a baby's cot starts to rock without the aid of hands. Other times, nothing happens.
The whole program looks much more genuine than that of the video posted above, which seems to concentrate on the reaction of the audience rather than the content of the movie.
Five-minuite clips of "Most Haunted" are available on the internet under the address, "Living Channel".
As for "Poltergeist" or "Ghostbusters" - these comic strip movies are just as realistic or as frightening as Superman.

Been EXCITED for this film for about a few months now!!! I can't wait to see it - as I'm sure it'll be the ONE film I see in a theater & won't be able to sleep later that night. HAHA

Too bad It won't be coming around here anytime soon. (though I've already tried to "demand it!") heh icon_cool.gif

Dude Paramount DID "buy" it originally to remake it - but THIS is the original version - Paramount tested it & realized how EFFIN' scary it is & thought "why Fix what isn't broke" (THANK GOD!)

Yeah, OBVIOUSLY many of ya know I'm a true blue HORROR BUFF - & I can say that THIS movie will truly make me a big EFFIN' baby when I'm gonna be in my room alone at night. I will say that right now. Ghosts & supernatural stuff (IF done well) scares the ever living hell out of me!

That show, A HAUNTING, on ID Channel (investigative Discovery) & Discovery keeps me up at night. That & my dang stupid "ghost" episodes Box Set of UNSOLVED MYSTERIES. icon_eek.gif

When I watch those EPs of Unsolved Mysteries OR A HAUNTING, I think to myself "WHY WHY Kevin are you torturing yourself from not getting ANY sleep!??!" ha ha ha

    Hahahaha! You sound like me...
Anything that has to do with ghosts (like you said, if well done) will scare the living crap out of me! And I really dont know why, but there's random night where I choose to stay up until 3am watching those ghost shows on ID and Discovery... If you tell me, It's a really poor decision for when I have to get up from the couch and walk all the up way up to my room in a dark house where all the light are off. Hahahaha!
