Face Lifts...would you get one, why or why not?

This is a question for the older men.

Yeah, if I could afford it. I don't see that it does any harm, and can give your ego a little boost. I would go to a top surgeon, no hack jobs, please!

There is always face yoga instead.

No. Bruce Jenner much? Maybe some resurfacing and fillers, though.

No, but I would take some butt implants and hair plugs.

Humm if it's ever needed I may. Right now I would rather invest that money in gym equipment haha.

A face lift seems a bit extreme to me. I would be too petrified that the doctor would screw it all up and I'd be one of those plastic surgery disasters.

There's a lot you can do before you reach the facelift stage. I'd start with Botox, and maybe limit tanning.

I've been waiting for someone to say it, but I think this thread is a bunch of hooey. Why specify older men, it's like you are suggesting older gay men need a stupid face lift. What happened to appreciating older men? I sure do. If you're getting old, I say go with it and have some fricking fun with it. Of course, if the skin on a person's face is pulled within an inch of it's life, but the mind underneath feels old and unworthy, you get The Joker effect: a plastic smile with nothing good underneath. We don't want that.

In my earlier post, I was going reply with, "Tee hee, tee hee. What an adorably precocious toddler," but being snarky and grumpy is far more entertaining. And, far more befitting a man of my advanced years.

I don't think face lifts work for men. Have you seen David Guest? Or Burt Reynolds? Or Kenny Rogers?

Men don't often need it. Women are lucky enough to grow jowls as they age. Men get better and better looking to a point. Women tend to get worse after 30.

Mine is already a bit hi . No really I've been researching but have much of the same concerns as state above. A lift should give u a rested look not move your eyes to the sides of your head.

Probably a little bit nip and tuck. But certainly not plastic surgery or anything major. Anyway, I cant afford it, so let forget about it.

Been there, done that. I've told this story before, but it fits this thread perfectly: A couple of years ago, my partner had two procedures he wanted performed by a plastic surgeon. He made an appointment and I went along with him for the initial consultation. After a lengthy discussion with the surgeon about why he couldn't do the work my partner desired, the surgeon turned to me and said: "But I can really help you!!" And he did. I've been very pleased that I did it.

I've heard that butt implants usually look bad! Lots of scarring issues (at the crease of the bottom of your butt)... and I also heard the recovery is just awful...

Well, figured this thread would give me a bit of insight as to where gay men stand about how much youthful appearance matters. Myself, I have a view that reasons with legality in the country and therefore tells me if I am wanting to find someone who actually looks the age of consent then a few minor wrinkles is okay.

I'd want to be damn sure I came out better than this poor guy!

I don't think I'd ever get a face lift. I know I've NEVER been worried about baldness, and I really don't mind getting older. It has its up sides and down sides.

Right now, the doc has me on a drug that's making my face a bit puffy, but, it's a temporary thing, and while it bugs me a bit, I realize it's temporary. Because I haven't been able to workout (tore my distal biceps tendon), my bp has come up, and the losartan is making me a bit puffy. As soon as I get back with my program, though, it'll come right back into line, and I'll be off the meds. HRT and exercise WORK. (Surgery is set for October 7 on the arm.)

We're all getting older.

I find a certain strangeness in the fact that we do cosmetic surgery, use botox, have our stomachs cut on, etc., yet, some things, like endocrine therapy (in guys, at least), and being in great shape, kinda' still are a bit taboo. Society is evolving, but, slowly.

Modern medicine in the United States is about profiting from the sick, and the vain / self-conscious.

I've never really had any features about myself I haven't liked. I do think that there are some folks who are ugly, and maybe could use some help, but, it's expensive, and a risk.

Each to his own.

Never. Most older people lose their "character" when they get a face lift. It comes down to the reply I posted to the hairy/smooth topic; "Unnatural processes look unnatural."

After losing 150 pounds I thought about getting some excess skin removed if I didn't "shrink" on it's own. Luckily, it's not that bad, most people can't believe it when I tell them about the weight lose. I have some drooping eye lids, but I look at them as battle scars that give my face some character,

This is Madonna's dermatologist. I'm pretty sure he's had a face lift. Or two. And botox. And collagen. His face looks almost as plastic as his coat.

I can't think of one good face lift I have seen on a guy. Leave that crap for the ladies and let the men age gracefully!

I don't need a facelift, I need a hairline lowering.
