I, TOO, posted a thread about this new one.

I'm "excited" for it. but, in my opinion, there's nothing in the original that needs retouching.

The effects in the original ROCKED (that Hovering body thats dragged across the ceiling -- ya can't touch that!).

Wes Craven REALLY outdid himself with the orginal '84 version.

The thing that DOES interest me with this new one (& dissapoints me as well) is that they are making freddy "sympathetic" , he could be "innocent" of molesting the children. Which doesn't make sense, cuz then where did he get the glove????

However, I AM sick of how Michael Bay keeps making these scary villians sympathetic to the audience by over-explaining & making him "human" (ie: Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake & Friday the 13th remake)

They better make him scary in this one. They better concentrate & make the dream sequences good/scary/thrilling & not spend most of the the films budget on a "hip" cast & a cool soundtrack.

again, Don't fix it if it isn't broke (and the first Nighmare is DEF not a flawed film!)

    But I am excited.

The problem with the Platinum dunes remakes of these films is, it seems like once you've seen one, you have seen them all. Even the marketing is the same. I'm excited, but not expecting much after viewing every other film they've remade. I still wonder what they would have done with Halloween.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST THIS LOOKS SO GOOD I ALMOST CRIED.

I was obsessed with Freddy movies as a kid. I even made Freddy gloves. Dear god I'm so glad I didn't end up being a psychopath. Just an obnoxious asshole. Anyway, this movie looks exceedingly grotesque and beyond overemotional. I'm going to love it, cry my eyes out, and mindlessly satiate my mouth with popcorn until I poke. And have plenty of nightmares. It looks far more dark than the original Freddy movies too. Can't wait!

IDK, the original is pretty EFFIN' DARK. LOL

Something tells me this may be more "watered down" - & the fact that Freddy may be "innocent" from being a pedophile (though a interesting choice to deviate from the original idea) - it reeeeeks of taking scare factor off. But makes it interesting nonetheless for why he's out for revenge.

The best ones out of 1-6 were 1,3, and 4. I also like the 7th film, which I guess stands more on its own and is a lot more mature than the previous films

Well I grew up with these as a kid - so yeah some are nostalgic!

Yup, part 2 even I liked (when a kid) - always loved when Freddy starts busting out of Jesse's Skin/body! badass effect!

Anyway - YES - part 3: Dream Warriors was good (many fans loved it). Part 4: The Dream Master brought alot of IMAGINATION into it.

& PERSONALLY, Wes Craven's NEW NIGHTMARE (part 7) was fucking GOOD, different & MADE FREDDY SCARY AGAIN !!!

Naw, I think him being innocent would add to the film.

Think about it - weird man toasted for a heinous crime he didn't commit. Weird man becomes dream-god. Weird man becomes even weirder as a dream-god and goes nuts, decides to extract his revenge.

Him being a pedophile you're like "ugh, totally saw this coming" but him as an innocent - you think to yourself "ya know, I'd probably do something similar in the same situation" so you're all like "RAWWWWW, GO FREDDY!!! RIP THAT BITCH IN HALF!! FUCK YEAH!!"

then again, I tend to root for the bad guys. They tend to be more fun. icon_twisted.gif

True Dude! I do agree , its a neat "twist" on the original storyline - HOWEVER - the purpose & idea of REMAKING this classic is to make Freddy K. SCARY again. Cuz, after many sequels, he became a wise-cracking "one liner" comedian EVERYONE rooted for!

That was NOT the case when it first came out in '84. He was scary as hell then.

SO, in order to make him scary again - you don't necessarily want to make him the forefront of the picture, ya know UN-mysterious, & to make him a villain ya ROOT for completely takes away any intensity/scares away from it.

& GLADLY - based on the script review - he does NOT make stupid corny one-liners.

Glad to hear that... That was my one concern. I wanted the scare factor back in over the comedy. I'm excited that it looks like they left in the body lifting up and hopefully being dragged around the walls. That scene was crazy in the original.
