    In the last few weeks there have been two conservative republican conferences, 1st was the 'Values Voter Conference', and more recently was the 'How to take back America conference'. Without a long dissertation on all that was discussed, lets just put it mildly, these conferences are promoting a view of gays as having an agenda that is anti christian, putting christians in danger for speaking out about the evils of 'Gayness', an agenda to destroy the morals of America and as one conference topic was titled "How to stop Femenists and Gay Attacks on the Military". (lets all get out our guns and "Attack the military") It appears any efforts to inform through our schools or by whatever other means, that the efforts are being taken as if we are trying to 'make more gays', rather than to educate the public to break down unwarrented prejudices by clearing up missunderstandings of what being gay is and to facilitate tolerance in our schools, colleges and workplaces. If you were to stand before a group of conservative christians and they asked, what is your "Gay Agenda"? What would you say to calm their fears? This subject is getting more and more attention and will likely get louder when doing away with DOMA or DADT is finally brought up in the congress and senate. What can we do in our everyday lives to help our cause?

    I would tell them.. There is no agenda. The agenda that they speak of is a figment of their imagination. Something they conjured up to direct their ignorance and fear at.

    It's not just us. There is a very strong current of fear and paranoia about everything.

    Not that there is a real gay agenda, but I would guess the common effort is to escape centuries of persecution from the christian right and live happy, undisturbed, productive lives with the people we love.

    On the other had the agenda of the christian "right" etc is well documented after 2000 years of persecuting and killing others who threaten their beliefs even to the point of persecuting other so-called Christians. The same can be said of other dogmatic religions and even dogmatic political ideologies.

    What is the christian right most afraid of? Probably, right now, irrelevancy. Of course all they need for revival is cataclysmic fear and conspiracy which tends to make people believe hysterical things. Big wars or threats of wars historically make people act irrationally for example.

    Chuck! I bet you used to say your dog ate your homework, too! Give me your e-mail address and I'll send a scan of my copy to you.

    ....but, seriously, I'm going to put forth my take on the gay agenda in the next month and hopefully set the true Christians on a path towards righteousness. I don't know enough about all the other religions where their followers think it's their duty to punish us, castrate us, or kills us, to know what to say to them, so followers of those religions who believe it's OK to be gay will have to take them on.

    Oh, BTW, someone needs to take on the secular folks who think we should be second-class citizens or non-existent. Our opposition is not limited to people of faith!

    A plan that I think will work, is to take on our opponents from a place of love on their own turf, so if you don't know enough about their turf to do that, then don't create more enemies for us by simply attacking what you don't understand.

    I'm going to sign-off for the day, so I won't be responding to any vitriol that I may have aroused by stating my opinion.

    Peace-out! LOL.

    i think our agenda would probably be...stop the ignorance. they think, however, that apperantly we're going to "rape their kids, steal their husbands, and redress their wives" because...you know...we're all like that.

    but seriously...conservatives had the same fit about when blacks wanted to intergrate, or when couple wanted cohabilitation, or when inter-racial couples wanted to marry, or women working outside of their homes...it's always an "evil agenda" for them

    1. The procurement of a part-time job.
    2. The inevitable seduction of the owner of my gym.

    Although number two might require another 'is he gay' thread along with a 'help me break out of my shell' thread.

    That would make Mary Magdalene a fag hag and that song (I Don't Know How to Love Him) from Godspell or JC Superstar would take on a whole new meaning.

    My gay agenda is to effectively obliterate Christian influence. Yes, I have an anti-Christian agenda. This started years ago when I realized that Christianity will stop at nothing to bring about the very evil they profess to abhor. It is my personal opinion that religion is the most devistating weapon ever created by man. They started this fight and I'll be damned if I stand idly by and allow them to win it. (Yes, there are some very nice Christians and I am not trying to offend or to start a flame war. I am not against Christians, just the institution of Christianity.)

    or

    The Gay Agenda, Tongue in Cheek..

    (a) Look better than majority of straight males;

    (b) Be more fit than majority of straight males;

    (c) Be more self aware and sensitive than the majority of straight males;

    (d) Be more issue conscious than the majority of straight males;

    (e) Be the guy that women wish their straight male mates/partners/husbands would look/talk/think like;

    (f) Do less farting, scat-centered joking, crude-commenting than the majority of straight males.

    In short, be the guy that would make most women want to dump their turkey straight partners/husbands/boyfriends.

    < edit> OK...I'll add one. In short, be the guy that most conservative Christian Rightists who are male want to fool around with, behind the backs of their wives and in violation of the principles they spew from their mouths.
