Everyone that submitted a vote (good or bad) for that poll is on the government watch list now. You'd think it would be common knowledge that making any sort of death threat towards the President will get you in trouble. icon_rolleyes.gif

I may be wrong but it seems to me that the far right is getting more and more comfortable about saying such things, because the republican leaders instead of unequivically calling out such retoric, they are behind the seens making use of it to win political points.

Yes, I'm getting sick of debunking this false equivalency the right-wing has been arguing on TV: the left called Bush a Hitler, yadda yadda. Everyone who asked for Bush's death was quickly labeled a psychotic loon (rightly so), and promptly arrested.

People were arrested for wearing T-shirts to Bush rallies. But bringing loaded semi-automatic weapons? Really? Obama death pages on Facebook? Really?

There's no equivalence. Glad they took the page down. Yes, follow those jackasses who voted with a black helicopter.

There was that little movie someone made a few years ago called "Death of A President" depicting the assassination of President Bush. That was even worse

What was posted on facebook is threat and if the secret service does not treat is seriously then they are not doing their job to protect not only this president but any sitting president.

Who ever posted it is really quite stupid. Did they not think that Secret Service does not monitor the internet for terrorist and threats against the first family? What a bone head and also the people the responded! Since President Obama has taken office there some who have literally gone off the deep end and sank to the very bottom.

    Man alive!

That movie, decried as despicable by everyone (for appearing incendiary), was a faux documentary by a British director, shown in Canada. It did not air, nor was it released in the US. Its subject matter, incidentally, was not to glorify the killing of Bush, but to comment on the sad state of our hysterical media, and the effect such an act would have politically; and, Bush is portrayed more as a martyr.

    Not the same.

I was around in 1992-93, and I well remember how batshit the RW went over Bill (and especially Hillary) Clinton. That was NOTHING compared to the levels of unhinged-ness surrounding President Obama...

The level on insanity is terrible. I pray for the safety of the first family every night not just the president but the entire family.

I actually saw that movie in the U.S. (I think I rented it at Blockbuster). The point is, if someone released the exact same movie only about Obama, I can only imagine the hysteria. Regardless, I agree that the posting of that poll was all kinds of wrong and I hope they catch who did it and expose them.

I just finished watching a discussion of this issue on MSNBC and they quoted that threats against Obama are up by right at 400% over the previous president. God bless the good ole bible thumpers, that uppety boy is up in there where some of their own should be and by god their not gonna take it anymore !!!

I don't think it's exactly fair (or accurate) to blame bible thumpers or even necessarily Republicans for all the threats. They are likely coming from a variety of places, backgrounds, and political affiliations.

This is entirely true. What is it then that these people have in common? They are overwhelmingly white, overwhelmingly late middle age, overwhelmingly religious, and overwhelmingly "real Americans" i.e., not urban, not coastal and not wealthy. I would imagine these are folks that see their world and their worldview slipping away, and they are powerless to stop it...

You can't be serious... There are crazy's on all sides but I propose to you that there are only bible thumping Republicans wanting to assassinate Obama. And no one can depute the fact that there is NO republican leadership OUTRAGE in response to this dangerous rhetoric.

And, God forbid, if anything happens to that man because of it we can forget life in this country as we know it.
