It refers to her as partner...What does that mean? legal partner or a girlfriend?

"Langbehn's partner, Lisa Pond, suffered a fatal brain aneurysm on Feb. 18, 2007, shortly before they were to sail with their three children on a Caribbean cruise for gay families."

I'd say that means more like Wife... that is if FL was in New England icon_sad.gif

thats exactly why whenever i travel I have a designated hospital that I demand to be sent to along with a pocket copy of where to find my medical power of attorney and always put my partner before anyone in my family. sadly but until something changes its about the only protection we have.

It is pretty sad... But the more they do this, and the more they shine a light on aspects of gay life that the general public is not aware of, the more are the chances that people will actually see the human side of the gay community. It is sad...

    We shall overcome.

Scroll down to some of the comments to the linked story. Christians saying that the dead woman is burning in Hell for being a lesbian. Such is America today. Praise Jee-sus! Praise right-wingers! Praise Republicans who support these laws!

We have more than enough of them right here on RJ, it's not surprising they exist elsewhere in the general community.

I read those comments too...But I come across people like that a lot in my line of work. Its unbelievable what people even in a first world country like ours could believe and publicly announce.

    The original story:

Legal documents including our Power of Attorney, Living Will and Advance Directive were faxed to the hospital and she was still not allowed to see her.
