Anyone get an invite? I was sad not to be one of the 100,000 picked, especially since I’m a developer. Anyone else get one?

The link you posted has some good info. Google Wave is basically a new protocol for real-time messaging that focuses on interactivity (imagine writing a document with someone across the country and seeing their changes instantly, watching him/her type letter by letter) and instantaneous messaging.

E-mail (and the internet itself) was invented about 40 years ago, so Google Wave is a re-envisioning of the messaging protocol we all use with current technology and capabilities in mind.

I'm super excited, especially since I have a website that I'm building right now that I want to use some of the real-time collaboration features with. icon_biggrin.gif

Timberoo you are clearly unfamiliar with Rule 34 of the Internet.

For desperate geeks: the advance invitations are being sold on eBay. It looks like the going price is something like $40.

Interesting. As part of a game development team, we're using a mishmash of tools to do this already.

An app made by one of our coders which screenshots whatever is on your screen and uploads it to an ftp link for sharing and/or later viewing, irc, and sites like Dpaste for pasting long bits of code and/or text, Etherpad for collaborative text work, Livestream for sharing videos & audio real-time of what you're doing on your computer screen, and sites like Scriblink and FooSketch for collaborative whiteboard concepting (basically drawing things up together with teammates for art ideas).
