Isn't that the underlying reason why Chicago lost the Olympic bid? Everyone knows that you either vote for or with Pres Obama or you are automatically a racist if you vote against him, there is no other valid reason because he is never wrong,

dlrn64, that's funny. If it was racist then why did Rio get it?

...oh wait, now we get it.

    - hope you're wearing your asbestos speedos!

Let's face reality here. The US screwed itself out of being chosen for the Olympics. Ever since 9/11, it has become an incredible burden for tourists to come visit the states. Long lines, mandatory finger printing, shoe inspections, liquid in a container inspection, incompetent and corrupt TSA employees.. the list goes on.

Once the USOC settles its financial finagling with the IOC, you'll see, the States will be back in favor .
It is the main if not the sole reason .

And of course Obama is "never" wrong but he gets distracted now and then.

I've been around IOC selection. Believe me, it's 99.9% money.

But the crap anyone has to put up with at the border can't have helped. I had the head coach of a foreign team here last summer, with is wife & two kids. It took them 90 minutes to get in, the kids were separately interviewed, the finger printing made a huge positive impression - and they said they'd never come back.

    Welcome to the US!

My bro-crush object Nate Silver has an excellent post over a FiveThirtyEight on the composition of the IOC and what a more fairly proportioned board might look like.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>No buddy you got this all wrong !!! its reverse discrimination, you know like the kind the Glenn Beck talked about, Obama is racist, he doesn't like white people. So what happened over there is he told the IOC not to award the olympics to them "uppity" whites !!! He did that cause lately the repugs hadn't been voting for him, so guess he just showed them his valid reason for paying them back. If your serious about the above, then this theory I just wrote makes just as much sense doesn't it.

It would appear that the OP is the racist, rather than anyone on the IOC.
A majority of Americans elected a black man to be our President.
    Get used to it.

They can't used to it, and that's why they continue to spew their venom and insecurities. They feel the world is fucking them over, therefore they have to lash out at anything that represents a threat to their weak psyche!

How about looking at this from a different view..such as wanting this to be in a country that hasnt yet hosted the Olympics? I think it is great that a country in South America was choosen.

There was an analysis about why Rio was picked. I don't think the IOC is not Racist toward Obama. Just because he showed up in Copenhagen - it doesn't mean that all these voters have to be wow and vote against their principles.

. Chicago was eliminated not because of the city - but because of bad relations between the USOC and the IOC. There were bad blood, the war, economic crisis, geography of the city, ..etc & ... etc.

. Tokyo was just shadowed by the Beijing Olympic games last year.
. Madrid, although has many friends, but London is hosting in 2012. So they can't really have another games in Europe 4 yrs later.

So if you think about it, Rio wins by default, plus it's in South America - which is a region never host the games before - most Tokyo & Chicago supporters voted for Rio once those 2 cities were out of competition. Rio won because they have a flawless bid, citing that North America, Asia and Europe repeatedly hosted the games, it's time for Latin America to shine in the world stage in 2016.

revenue sharing between the USOC and IOC is becoming a big problem.
It used to be the US were investing the most in TV , ads and so on, but not anymore. Yet it still claims the biggest share of revenue, which the IOC wants to downsize. But the USOC does nothing to cooperate , of course.
