Is there anyone else stuck in High Point, NC the 10-16th of October? Is there anything to do there?

omg, one of my favorite charlotte hotties grew up there. not that this information helps you in any way, but the blue ridge parkway is lovely (and that's probably a fantastic time to go see the spectacle of the autumn leaves).

That might be early for fall leaves.... well actually scratch that, because of how dry it has been, that might be a good time for it.

I went to the Blue Ridge Parkway Oct 18-20 last year, there seemed to be a lot a green, but it was still awesome, definitely worth a visit.

    High Point? Not much.

Downtown Greensboro has quite a few restaurants and clubs, but they tend to close pretty early during the week. Weekends are pretty happening there though.

    Downtown restaurants: dining

Riva's Trattoria on Greene Street is one of my favorite spots (might want to make reservations if you go). http://www.rivastrattoria.com/

If you're into Microbrews, Natty Greene's is pretty good (and the food is pretty good, too). http://www.bigdraft.com/pub.html

If you're going for the dietary kill (as if the above wasn't enough), Cheescakes by Alex ought to do the trick. http://www.cheesecakesbyalex.com/

There's also a number of galleries & antique shops downtown, but I'm not sure about the hours of operation during the week.

Anyway, hope this helps! If I can answer any specific questions, hit me up. Have a great trip!

FYI the peak color around Boone would be in that Oct 10-16 time frame. Boone is about two hours from High Point.

If you decide to take the Parkway from Highway 421, I'd head south on the Parkway toward Boone & Blowing Rock.

As DC Eric mentioned, it was very dry in late July & August, so things might move a little faster than normal this year.

It's been raining quite a bit the past couple weeks, so it might slow it down. The problem is that the trees operate on their own time frame, and there is a very short window of time when they will suddenly all change color and be gone in a week or two.

I was just up in Boone a few days ago, it mostly looked green except for a few select trees turning slightly yellow.

    Good luck!
