I was recently hired as a Server/Barback at 12th AIR COMMAND on 12th & locust st. in philadelphia..... (I was laid off from my old job 2 months ago)

having worked thursday night, friday night, and saturday night, I have made SHIT money (like 50 bucks, 45 bucks, 42 bucks). clearly I can make more working a lunch shift at Applebees.

Not only that, but the club/bar itself, is totally dead.

I'm really not too familiar with the gay scene in Philadelphia, but does 12th AIR COMMAND have some horrible reputation that keeps people from coming in to eat and drink on friday and saturday nights???????

I figured a 14 year old gay bar in the gayborhood of Philadelphia, right down the street from woodys would = MONEY

any Philadelphian's have any opinions about this??????

I worked there as a barback from 1997-1998 and then again as a bartender a couple years later.

    The bottom line:

Richard McPeak, the owner of the bar, is a selfish, rude, arrogant man. He is stingy with his staff and his customers. His drinks are overpriced. He caters to a less-than-savory crowd, and while the bartenders are trying to clean up his messes, he's in the back screwing twinks.

Don't try and change the world. Just go get a job working for the Weiss brothers. They'll treat you like a human being (or at least more so than Richard will).

Yeah. When I was in Philly I kinda understood that you only went to 12 A.C. if you were looking for twinks, sugar daddies, or drugs.

So, that could be why. I tended to stick to bump and woody's.

I never worked there, but 12th Air Command is rather sleazy. It has some very unsavory characters there--not to mention it needs a serious top-to-bottom cleaning.

Try working at Woodys, Tavern at Camac or Knock. If you are willing to work at a "straight" establishment, try working at El Vez, the Continental or Jones.

    Good Luck.
