Would you, or more importantly, could you, date someone who wasn't a "jock"?

Haven't seen this topic brought up (if it has been, please provide the link to the thread), and since this is a gay "jock" site where everyone seems to be attracted to the same thing, I figured I'd ask a pertinent question.

I dont even think Im a JOCK. i work as a Personal Trainer, but Im no dude, bro, or sports fanatic.

Does the guy I date have to be a jock? Ehh... muscles are hot. What can I say? Ive dated guys who I ve have been attracted to, but whose lifestyle isnt corollary to mine (they drink too much, dont eat healthy, dont exercise consistently)-- and I find that it really impacts the relationship in a negative way along the line...

jprichva saidIf someone's athletic interests define them completely, I wouldn't be interested at all. I don't work out as a religion, I do it to maintain fitness and try to keep my advancing age at bay.

Being interested in sports, among other things, is great. I am. Being single-mindedly obsessed with them is not interesting. So it depends on your definition of a 'jock'.

I mean the whole "jock" look and the kind of behaviors, interests, and temperament that go along with it.

If a guy has no athletic interests whatsoever, then that is a rule out for me.

Umm... back to the question. I look at the whole picture, but, if so one is a fat ass, smokes, drinks to much, and only is interested in opera, well, it's not gonna' work out. If someone just adores me, that's a huge turnoff. I like guys with confidence, fitness, that take care of themselves, are bright, congenial, humorous, and stand tall. I can't stand meek little fairies who whine about every little thing. There has to be a hint of the "can do" mindset that most athletes have. There's a list of show stoppers.

    Smokers
    Fat asses
    Whiners
    Fairies
    Femmes
    Lazy fucks
    Idiots
    Folks who can't speak English
    Picture-less
    Not out
    On the down low
Cheaters (on their wives, girlfriends or boyfriends)
    Dirt bags
    Sluts
False belief systems / religion / cults
    Fetish folks
    Drug heads
    Folks seeking affirmation

I try to be equal opportunity in my rejection.

If you're in great shape, confident, out, like yourself, love to giggle and can converse about anything under the sun, you'll likely hit it off with me. I like decent folks across the board, but don't deal with the aforementioned.

The problem with a lot of the things on that list is that they are relative. And, at least to me, it sounds like you don't want an individual, you just want a cut-out of your personal conception of a "he-man".

Jesus Fucking Mary that's a long list!

    For the record:
Fairies are OK in my book. Life needs a little fairie dust every now and then. Plus, they are usually excellent bottoms.
"Folks who can't speak English" Ummm..who needs to have language get in the way of a good fuck or two?
Sluts: errr...just about every gay man is a slut.
Fetish folks too? We have should have a sex hobby. What's the problem?

LOL. You were pre-blocked, and, yes, you would not make the list. Indeed they are relative, to a degree, but, to me, your lack of a picture tells me you're not the sort of person I'd like to know. That's o.k. There is someone out there for you. I do NOT care if you agree with me.

OK whatever. Good luck with that, man. I don't see why you would participate if your only intention was to block me once I responded.

And I think it's kind of arrogant for you to assume that I'd like to know you, which is what it appears that you're doing. Just a thought (since you don't strike me as someone who has plenty of those).

The only individuals I can see myself NOT being able to date are the ones that sit on the couch WATCHING instead of PLAYING sports.

Oh, sweetie, you ain't been around here long enough to know the true Chucky. Scarcely a week goes by without his telling us about how all the men he meets simply throw themselves at him, and how they turn into bitter queens and lash out at him when he rejects them.

The man's got a rich fantasy life, ya have to give him that.

Oh well, fantasies only serve the people who indulge in them icon_biggrin.gif. If it makes him feel better then more power to him. Delusion is an ego's best friend.

You're turned off when someone adores you? Even when you're into them too? Isn't that what it's all about? mutual adoration is the bomb in my book.

I actually prefer artists over jocks. A hot chef or designer wins over a jock any day. Still, they have to be healthy.

A jock is the last thing on my list. Someone who takes care of themselves physically and mentally is what I want!! You don't have to have muscles popping out everywhere or even have abs. I just don't like Super skinny or super fat. a little chubby won't hurt me.

Jocks aren't the only ones that take care of themselves like some of the numb skulls on here believe.

Being all sports and nothing but sports is Lammmmmmmmmmmmme to me at least.icon_wink.gif

A "jock"has many definitions. I'm already involved with someone who's into sports, football, basketball, baseball, etc..

He, however isn't into physical fitness in a gym. While I think he should gain some appreciation from it, as I do, he hasn't yet... and yes, we are still involved.

    Absolutely I could and do.

As long as they are not out of shape (I even prefer skinny men)
and they are healthy meaning they don't smoke, or do drugs and/or alcohol to access I am fine. Sometimes, however my playing sports to the extent I do gets in the way.

I would be too focused on the quality of his character to allow his lack of interest in sports to dissuade my interest in him.
