    "The Business of Being Born"

I recently saw this documentary and thought it was amazing and raised some issues I had heard before, but by and large, presented information I did not know.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this. If not, I highly recommend it.

It really opened my eyes to an issue most, including myself, have not given much thought to.

I just watched this on Netflix, very interesting. I would have never guessed that the U.S. would have such a high newborn death rate.

Designer birth? I have never heard of that before.

As a side note, I bet that cab driver was thrilled to have that lady demanding he run all the red lights so they’d get to the hospital faster (lol).

haha, yeah no kidding. i bet he cringed when he heard the words, "my water broke!"

but yeah, it was really interesting.

i just found the whole notion of how women give birth to be interesting, comparing the legs in straps lying on your back to being able to move around, etc. it makes sense, i just never really even... thought of that before.

I would have never imagined that going to the hospital to give birth would be completely un-natural (with all the drugs…that later cause birth defects), especially the lying on your back part.

That lady is probably right, people do more research on buying a digital camera than they do on the birth process, but people don’t give it a second thought though.

I think one thing that stood out the most was sort of in relation to the Feminist movement, in that it has taken abortion rights to the forefront... yet, what about birthing rights?

    interesting questions.
