Pinny saidThis is a stupid fucking thread, I can't believe people are passing judgment. He did cheat, but he wasn't married. He even admitted he needs to do "a lot of work" concerning his relationship. The affair was years ago before his marriage came about. It doesn't lighten the severity but he isn't an adulterer.
I love how people are so quick to past judgment on him. God forbid a TV comic made a mistake. For all those that are going to say that now he has no right to talk and make fun of other, IT IS HIS JOB. He is a late night talk show host whose job it is to make us laugh and end the night well.
Some of you sound like the Right.
Hmmmmm.....I don't think this is a stupid thread at all.
Here is my opinion.....
We know David Letterman's story. We are learning about the blackmailer's story. But the "consenting" women? Nah. We don't know their story at all.
We don't know....if they felt pressure to go along with it all because they might have thought their jobs were in jeopardy.
As a former Manager of a big company....if I did what he did I would have been fired. Period.
As for him being courageous, I think just the opposite. Just like John Edwards and so many others..... he "faced the music" because he had no other choice. If he didn't speak up it was going to come out anyway.
I found the whole admission kind of weird. A mix of honest talk with humor.... taking it seriously and making a joke at the same time. He has the luxury of a "forum" to state his case and make amends.
I find it shocking that Women's rights activists have not come out stronger about this situation. He is getting a pass? Why?
Of course the ratings for his shows this week have been the highest in history.
And that's no joke.
Anyway, just my 2 cents.
