What a strange story and what a bad way to behave towards your wife. Unpleasant man.

Gimme a break it's Dave Letterman. Not an excuse for his behavior but your not him and have no idea what he goes thru on a daily basis. Stop throwing stones. Yes he FUCKED UP! Plenty of people do. I'm sure your Mother Theresa card is always on display therefor you have no regrets in life of mistakes you wish you can take back

So I can never be blackmailed, I would like to now confess to all the affairs I may have in the future. What I will do is wrong, but I will be in a place in my life where I will be no longer in a happy marriage. It will be an act of passion that I will not have felt for some time. I will be sorry for all those I may hurt, but I can't really be sorry for what I may do.

So now Letterman is down in the mire with those who have been caught and exposed. Maybe he'll now discontinue his practice of castigating others for their own misfortunes.

Yet you are making excuses for him, because of what he supposedly goes thru on a daily basis. He couldn't have been going thru much since apparently he had enough time and energy to screw around.

There is no excuse for the crap he did. And I dare say if the extortions attempt were not brought to light he may even be doing the very same thing even as I type.

True he wasn't married at the time. He was however supposed to be in a LTR with the woman who is now his wife

man who cares!!! this country needs to get over its prudishness. So he banged a few chicks big deal all men are whores. If men were given the option of having safe hot sex with random women or men with no repurcussions whatsoever, we'd all be signing up LOL i think hes apology is pointless he has nothing to apologize for let him fuck whoever he wants blah blah blah. I watch him cus hes funny I dont care what he does in his private life. Now if he was in a relationship and cheated then that makes him an asshole LOL cus I dont believe in cheating for that you stay single, but i still dont give a flip men cheat when is this going to stop being surprising to the media. :-) icon_wink.gif

Read again bro I'm not making excuses for him. The point was if your not him and have no idea of what his daily struggles are and how he copes and what condition his relationship is in and what type of woman he's with don't pass judgement. You act as if your holier than thou. Who are you as a person and where do you fit on my scale of rt and wrg? He's a man who's fucked up. Are you not a man who's fucked up? or is your life untarnished? It's more fucked up to me that someone wanted to use his fuck up for financial gain. Get off the judgement bus you'd be surprised of all the passengers you sit next to and what secrets they harbor

I try and not be too overly opinionated about others, especially when your getting a "spin" from the media.

Perhaps he will get additional insight about others (in similar situations) for which have been the topics of some of his jokes...

You seem to think that judgement is a bad thing

Should we also give Roman Polanski a pass? I mean who knows what his daily struggles were. Who knows how he coped on a daily basis? Who knows what his relationships were?

You act as one of these permissive people who do not have the ability to take a stand and say right is right and wrong is wrong. But perhaps that is the issue - we are fed such a hogwash of crap on a daily basis that the average person can no longer distinguish that there are somethings that are just wrong. The culture of if it feels good to you then do it and be damned with anyone else.

What a testament we will leave to the next set of folks when they read our story thru the annals of time.

Exactly. What happens between two consenting adults is their business, and it's not up to anyone else to tell them what they were doing was wrong/right/hot/gross/cool/stupid or ANYTHING. Leave the man in peace.

    HOGWASH YOURSELF!

If your comparing sex w/ a 13 yr old which is what Roman P did w/ having an affair w/ a legal consenting adult. That's CRAZY. While both might be morally wrg and considered a sin. I'm sure you agree one out weighs the other. PLZ use another parallel

Usually when one passes judgement they tend to base opinions on baggage they carry and it's distorted by personal life experience.

First, Blondizgd, you're no better than anyone else, and your self-aggrandizing morals are just a bunch of hot air.

Secondly, Letterman had the courage to step up on-camera, apologize to his wife and his audience, and accept personal responsibility for his actions.

I think Letterman gave us a pretty good lesson in how to be a man last night. I wonder if you're courageous enough to be so honest about YOUR past mistakes, Blondizgd.

This is a stupid fucking thread, I can't believe people are passing judgment. He did cheat, but he wasn't married. He even admitted he needs to do "a lot of work" concerning his relationship. The affair was years ago before his marriage came about. It doesn't lighten the severity but he isn't an adulterer.

I love how people are so quick to past judgment on him. God forbid a TV comic made a mistake. For all those that are going to say that now he has no right to talk and make fun of other, IT IS HIS JOB. He is a late night talk show host whose job it is to make us laugh and end the night well.

Some of you sound like the Right.

So he had some fun with some colleagues..... CAN´T SEE THE PROBLEM

At least I don´t have a problem with that.
If they (the concerned) have a problem with it (do they?) then it´s up to them.

    On the other hand.....
A good story that sells!!! (wonder why???:shockicon_smile.gif

Hmmmmm.....I don't think this is a stupid thread at all.

    Here is my opinion.....

We know David Letterman's story. We are learning about the blackmailer's story. But the "consenting" women? Nah. We don't know their story at all.
We don't know....if they felt pressure to go along with it all because they might have thought their jobs were in jeopardy.
As a former Manager of a big company....if I did what he did I would have been fired. Period.
As for him being courageous, I think just the opposite. Just like John Edwards and so many others..... he "faced the music" because he had no other choice. If he didn't speak up it was going to come out anyway.

I found the whole admission kind of weird. A mix of honest talk with humor.... taking it seriously and making a joke at the same time. He has the luxury of a "forum" to state his case and make amends.

I find it shocking that Women's rights activists have not come out stronger about this situation. He is getting a pass? Why?

Of course the ratings for his shows this week have been the highest in history.
    And that's no joke.

    Anyway, just my 2 cents.
