I didn't think that I would be able to but I wanted to see if I could. Normally I do 300-400 every other night but after reading about how Tom Hardy (from Star Trek Nemesis) had to put on size for his role in Bronson (UK film) and in an effort to do that he did 2,000 a day for six months.... I figured what the fuck! Is he nuts! But I started thinking could I do it... well I did and I have to admit I'm pretty proud of myself as this was a new feat accomplished. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm just sooooo looking forward to tomorrow... I can already feel it coming on...

I did 84 push ups every half hour over 12 hours until I reached 2,000.

I ate a good breakfast, half way between that and lunch I had a muscle milk shake, then a good balanced lunch, then two sandwiches on hoagie bread with 1 packet of miracle whip on each and then after completing the 2,000 another muscle milk shake before showering up.

Now the question comes... how healthy is it to do that many say....3 times a week or is it even healthy to do that many? Tom Hardy looks like it worked for him... dunno... what do you think?

Take it for what this is worth. But a good doctor told me you can never exercise too much. Whatever you are able to do without pain, is good for your body. But if it is very painful for you to do that many, then your body is telling you to cut back a little.

I do push-ups as my last exercise and do about 3 sets of 25 over less than five minutes. 2000 is crazy though! And over 12 hours? Hmm, is that your cure for boredom?

Here would be my question: does doing 2000 pushups get in the way of you doing the rest of your normal workout? I would think it would be hard to have the time to do a normal workout and those 2000 pushups. In that case, I'd say it's probably not healthy simply because it would mean that the rest of your workout is being neglected.

In addition, I wonder if that could lead to any repetitive stress injuries, especially in the wrists. I just sort of question the logic behind doing this regularly when you'd likely get more benefit from switching up your exercises regularly so that your muscles never get too used to one thing. But I don't know, this is all conjecture and maybe none of these things are problems. I'm just throwing out questions really.
