Don't know if there has been a topic in this before but:

I was just wondering what made you guys want to start working out and living an overall healthy lifestyle? Did it just strike you instantly and you started working out that very second or was it an overall process that took time.

I'm kind of having trouble staying motivated now so just wanted to know what made you start and what keeps you going.

I was working in a store that sold Muscle and Fitness magazine. I wanted to look more like the guys in that magazine. A friend of mine gave his weight set to me. Later, I joined a gym. As I got more muscular, I loved the way it looked, and I enjoyed working out. And, it made my body a magnet for the guys when I went out to the bars.

I was a couch potato that would watch tv all day and never do anything. I reached a financial crisis in life and ended up joining the army where I had physical health crammed into my head for 6 months straight. When I got home, i would say a lot of bad habbits came back.

But I think the difference is that I am willing to make up for it by staying active. Like now as I'm watching tv, I do pushups and sit ups and squats and stuff. That way I can escape reality and be healthy at the same time lol.

I have moments when I have trouble staying motivated. I try not to worry though because its never enough to set me back too far, plus mandatory army physical assessments will assure I don't get too lazy.
