It's like every gay guy I've known prefers to listen to music from female vocalists. On the other hand I find male vocalists much more exciting. So I am just wondering what the major portion of the gay community prefers, or is it really just random?

I prefer male vocalists. Its very sexy when a man can sing about love, happiness, sadness and other emotions. There's a ton of music by male vocalists out there that never seems to be played.

Yes, there's great female vocalists out there, but I can get pretty sick and tired always hearing that wailing screaming diva sound and the hysterical rantings that seem to get some guys jumping around on the dancefloor.

For me, it really just depends on the person.

Most of the music I own is by male artists.

I guess it depends on what mood I'm in. I tend to gravitate towards female vocalists and male rock bands. But, I do love my ladies: Tori Amos, Nina Gordon, Fiona Apple, etc. Now when it's time to rock (throw up the goats!!!!) I prefer male artists: Deftones, Disturbed, Static X, Guns 'N Roses. I guess I am musically versatile. Giggity giggity, ahhhh riiiight.

It's a mixture for me, but I do tend to love my Divas: Whitney, Celine, Aretha, Chaka, & Patti Labelle.

definitely a guy, especially one who has a very powerful voice (& i'm not talking volume or yelling), just a lot of air flowing, heaving chest...... doesn't hurt if they've got some muscles on 'em either

It really does depends honestly. I can't say I like either one more.

    But

single artist probably females because they can get away with a lot more than male artist can foreas very artistic eclectic pieces.

    Band wise, definitely male vocalist.

I prefer female vocalists as well especially those who can sing without screaming such as Karen Carpenters, Kd Lang, Eva Cassidy, etc

The ratio of male to female on my zen player ( old school!) is about 3 to 1.

My selection of male vocalist range from Jason Mraz to Michael Bublé and Chris Isaak.

Nobody sings a song of heartbreak better than Chris Isaak. The man is in perpetual heartbreak mode.icon_lol.gif

With females, it's everything from Madonna to Sarah Brightman and Tori Amos.

I prefer Tori's older work...before she lost her mind and the ability to pronounce her words clearly.

I have no preference, but if I'm looking for an emotional outlet, it's usually female vocalists that I go for.

A name pops in head *David Cook* icon_razz.gif

Yea, totally my type of vocalists.

So, seemingly we have 3 categories: Those who just love music, those who like it in a rough sexy male voice, and those who want it squeaky and emotional in a female voice. icon_biggrin.gif
