maybe you're in the wrong field .
i can't focus on what doesn't interest me either.
yet, time dissolves when i engage in something i love.

meanwhile, studying outloud can help sustain attention.

Speaking as an animal trainer, I think jprichva has the right idea. Try planning relatively short periods to study (maybe 30-40 minutes) and promise yourself something you like at the end of each of them. If you can't remain focussed for that long, then start off with small rewards at whatever length of time you can tolerate studying.

Over time you will hopefully find that you are able to gradually make the study sessions longer - especially if you feel like you're having success. If that doesn't happen and you continue to be highly distractible, then you should question whether you're studying in a field you actually like and/or whether you need to seek medical advice to be assessed for potential ADD/ADHD. Best of luck.

Do you have problems getting started or continuing?

I kind of had a bit of procrastination for a while, then I would select study days and get myself down and dirty with my desk. icon_biggrin.gif

You should try that or a study partner, someone just there but not necessarily from the same class. My roommate is Physiological Science and I'm pre-med/bio, but we'll sit at our huge kitchen table and just study together by ourselves into late morning hours. We rarely talk because sometimes we're listening to music too. He has his subjects, while I have mine.. it helps with someone's presence.

You're tired of statistics!? Switch to biology!!! avoid evolution like the plague though, it's rather murderous icon_lol.gif

Speaking as a college instructor, I'd say that you need be in a different frame of mind when studying a subject of little interest to you. Try to find some aspect of whatever chapter you're studying that you find appealing... word problems, applications to real life situations, etc. Perhaps studying with a GOOD study group may help and then there's always coffee lol.
