I was watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta (my guilty pleasure) since I am originally from Atlanta. A lot of the gay men on there wear high heels, and one said that high heels for men are becoming common. I also found an article on it. Do you or would you wear high heels?

I remember platform shoes from the seventies, a lot of guys had them. I'm thinking my pair had like a 3 or 4 inch lift. When I first saw the topic I was thinking spike heels .

I believe the gay community has always led fashion trends so time will tell if they catch on again. I may be too old for the second round of them

High heels are stupid & harmful for anyone, including women. Why a man would want to wear them is incomprehensible to me, except as a drag costume for a brief period. And since many drag queens are already about a foot taller than the average woman, I can't imagine why they need another 4 or 5 inches, making them look absolutely freakish.

Here's Liza, overweight and sounding awful, murdering the lyrics to "I'm Glad I'm Not Young Anymore" from "Gigi," a year before I saw her about 50 pounds lighter and in much better form. Listen for the lyric at 1:25 "I don't even blink, each time I see, a seven-foot drag queen, dressed like me..." And that's the point: 7-foot drag queens should never be in high heels. Are you listening, RuPaul?

"How DO they walk in these things?"

Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in heels, from "Some Like It Hot" (1959). You don't need to watch the whole clip to get the idea.

And in 1965 I bought a pair of Beatle Boots, that had a fairly high heel, too.

Though I thought the platform shoes of the 1970s & early 80s, Elton John notwithstanding, were the attire of pimps. I can't recall any decent people wearing them.

Unless, of course, you were Doctor Detroit:

Cowboy boots are a version of high heels. Back in the 70's , we wore War Boots. They were like cowboy boots with a strap around the back, reminiscent of the boots warn by civil war soldiers. They were a hot accessory, now that I think of it, for a country music fan.

I know people who live in Atlanta, they says it's fairly common there. I have yet to see regular gay guys here in Chi town in heels with the exception of drag queens.
